Esposure to roughly 500 people or more monthly, and sponsor spotlights on our page throughout the season. Contact us for more information. Sponsorships of every level are welcomed and appreciated. Ever since I was little I have wanted to ride horses. Then, one day my mom took me to go ride horses and I instantly fell in love! After that my mom heard for many years "Can I please ride horses?" "Can we get into lessons?" but we didn't know where to start or who to go to. Then, we came across Danielle through my mom's friend. I was so happy and I started going to the barn every Thursday and began to grow an even larger passion for riding. After riding for about a year, it felt like the barn was my safe space. Even with everything going on in my life when I went to the barn it was like everything bad that was happening never happened at all. I felt like I had a connection with the horse, when riding I felt at peace and calmed. Riding has also helped with my confidence and me as a person. If it wasn't for riding I wouldn't be as confident in myself as I am now. I feel more adventurous and feel like I can do more things on my own. I remember when I first started riding I was quite nervous and would hang on to the horn of my saddle, I slowly learned how to connect with my horse.
As much as riding means to me, IEA is also something I am very passionate about because it gave me an opportunity to take riding to a new level that I wouldn’t have been able to do on my own. I started riding in IEA last year and really enjoyed it and hope to do it more again this year. Ever since I started taking lessons I have dreamed of being in a competition. Thanks to IEA I am able to achieve those dreams now. I probably wouldn't have had the chance to be in a competition if it wasn't for IEA because it’s very expensive. Most competitive horse shows require you to have your own horse and pay heavy fees. With IEA they have provided me with horses I can ride at the show and prices are easier for my family. My mom being a single mom, could not afford for me to have my own horse and all the things needed to ride and take care of a horse as well. IEA has made it possible for me to compete and I'm so grateful to be a part of IEA and everything they do for all their students. For me horse back riding is more than a hobby, it's a passion. Riding is a way for me to create a strong bond with horses and has not only strengthened me physically, but also mentally. Riding has improved my endurance, core strength, physical ability, muscle strength, and coordination. Riding has also strengthened my mental ability by helping me with socialization, compassion, problem solving, stress relief, and my mental health. Riding has helped me grow as a person in many different ways. Im very thankful for everyone who has helped me along my journey of riding, such as IEA members and my trainer Danielle. Riding means the world to me and they made it possible for me to achieve my dreams and goals and I couldn't thank them enough. I hope one day to have my own horses and one day pay it back to kids and help them live out their dreams of riding.

Our small but mighty crew had a successful weekend out! Jordyn and Hershey made their cross-rail debut and came home with a grand champion in the ground poles and top ribbons in all classes. Allison and Reece made their future hunter debut and pinned top of their classes. Miya and Mocha came home with reserve champion of future hunter division and top ribbons in low beginner eq division after a short hiatus from the show ring since we sent them off to college. Lainey and Reece brought home reserve champion in long stirrup division to see us off. A wonderful weekend with wonderful horses and people. Sponsorship Opportunities for The Equestrian Reserve TN IEA Teams 2024-2025 Season

Thank you for considering being a sponsor this season. For those not familiar with the Interscholastic Equestrian Association(IEA), this program allows children the opportunity to ride and show horses without having to own or lease a horse themselves. The show fees and member fees are a fraction of typical horse show costs, and this incredible program allows children to compete at the regionals, finals and national final levels for top prizes and awards. IEA awards many scholarships for both academic and equestrian performance each season and is a notable addition to a college resume. IEA builds resilience and independence in children, and teaches them to work in a team environment with a common goal achieved by uplifting and supporting team members.

All sponsors will have their business logo/name if desired added to our team shirts/jackets/banner for the season. For this reason, we need to close sponsorships by August 1, 2024. Please send your logo/name to [email protected]

We would also like to be able to provide attire/gear for any members who will need new show attire this season. We will have a general fund for the team to be used for this purpose, trailering to shows, weekly lessons for members, etc. Sponsorships at any amount can be made to this fund.

Members receiving sponsorships of any form will be kept anonymous, however we have asked members applying for sponsorship to write an essay we will share with sponsors about what horseback riding, and IEA mean to them. These kids are so excited for the opportunity to ride and show, we hope to be able to fully sponsor 4 riders this season!

Thank you so much for giving a child the opportunity of a lifetime.

Please Contact Danielle with any questions or to become a sponsor.

LESSON POLICIES AND GUIDELINES

As we enter another great year of lessons, we’d like to remind/update current and future lesson clients of our policies regarding lessons. Please read through these carefully. We are a small business and put many hours into prepping and planning lesson schedules. Late cancellations and no shows really impact us and take away a lesson spot that could be otherwise filled, or time spent bettering our program. We understand things happen and we are more than willing to accommodate you the best we can. We greatly appreciate your commitment to our program and your understanding of these policies to ensure we can continue providing high quality riding lessons to our clients.

CANCELLATIONS/NO SHOWS

We require a 24-hour cancellation notice. If you need to cancel within 24 hours prior to your scheduled lesson time, you are still responsible for the lesson fee. If you and the instructor’s availability allow for a reschedule within the week, the missed lesson fee will be waived. In many instances, the instructor may not have availability for a reschedule within the week, in which you are still responsible for the missed lesson fee. In cases of emergency, the missed lesson fee may be waived at the instructor’s discretion.
Clients who late cancel, or “no show” a lesson will not be permitted to return until the missed lesson fee is paid (the cost of the lesson that was scheduled), and the following lesson is prepaid. Clients with a lesson package or monthly pay will have the missed lesson deducted from the current package.
After 3 late cancellations/”no shows”, a client will be dismissed from our program.
If the lesson is cancelled/rescheduled by your instructor, no fee will be assessed.

LATE ARRIVALS

Typically, lessons are scheduled back-to-back, therefore late arrivals will impact the duration of your lesson. In some instances, the instructor can accommodate a late arrival by going over scheduled lesson time to compensate for missed time. This is at the instructor’s discretion and availability and is NOT a guaranteed option.
In the event the instructor is late to start for whatever reason, your time will be added to the end of the lesson to compensate for any missed time.

PAYMENT/DROP-IN LESSONS

Drop in lessons do not hold an ongoing spot on the schedule. You must contact your instructor weekly to schedule your drop in lesson, these are not guaranteed availability and weekly clients take priority over drop ins for scheduling/reschedules. It is your responsibility to contact your instructor to schedule a drop-in lesson, and not all instructors may offer drop-in lessons. Payment for drop-in lessons is due at the time of the lesson. Clients who consistently pay late may be asked to prepay for drop in lessons at the time of scheduling.
Payment for monthly clients is due by the 1st of the month, regardless of when your first lesson of that month is. If payment is not received by the 5th of the month, and no arrangement has been made, you may be removed from the schedule until payment is made in full. In this event, you are not guaranteed to retain the same day/time previously scheduled. As always, prompt payment is always greatly appreciated.

INCLEMENT WEATHER

Inclement weather does not automatically result in lesson cancellation. Up to 1 lesson a month may be utilized as a “barn lesson” or an unmounted lesson where we will focus on horsemanship and horse care tailored to the students age and skill level. Unmounted lessons are mandatory in our program, cancelling outside the cancellation window, or no showing an unmounted lesson will result in a missed lesson fee. We firmly believe that the best horsemen and women are made on the ground. Getting to know the horses, their body language, anatomy, advanced care and so much more are essential parts to horsemanship and required for participation in our program.

If the instructor feels that the weather is not safe to conduct an unmounted lesson, or the barn lesson has been utilized for the month and we are unable to safely conduct mounted lessons, your instructor will contact you to reschedule at the earliest availability.

Thank you all again for your cooperation and ongoing support of our program. We have the absolute best clients and barn family, and greatly appreciate your concerted efforts to keep our program running smoothly.

In German, there is a saying: “Reiten lernt man nur durch Fegen”, which translates as “Riding is only learned by sweeping”. I have often thought about this saying.

Wherever there are horses, there is a lot of work to be done: Cleaning, sweeping, brushing, feeding, repairing…It’s not only the fun sides of pushing yourself off the ground and into the saddle. Learning to ride takes commitment and discipline, and we might have to do a lot of things which are not very glorious. Sweeping teaches us humility and keeps us grounded.

For me, this saying is also about apprenticeship. You start at the bottom, you sweep, you get off your high horse and you become open to learn. You admit to yourself that you don’t know everything. Sweeping is good for our ego. If you are an apprentice, the master can afford be honest to you. You don’t pay for lessons and s/he has nothing to loose if s/he scares you off. And that kind of honesty we need if we want to develop.

When we do chores around the barn, we also have the chance to develop a more natural kind of relationship with our horses, or with horses in general. We are not directly focused on them and can observe how they interact and what they are doing.

Sweeping is also my zen practice. Whatever my troubles are, I usually feel better after the morning chores at the barn are done.

We had a great time last weekend at the Winter Classic IEA show in Shelbyville. This was the last show before regionals, and while we didn’t quite make qualifications this year, these girls tried their hearts out, grew as riders, and as a team this season. This show held some tough competition and obstacles, but showed me just how much these girls have grown this season. They handled less than ideal rides with poise and didn’t let it dull their enthusiasm for their teammates or others.
They clap for everyone, uplift one another and have unwavering determination to grow as equestrians in both their trials and tribulations. They are humble, they are kind, they are young women that I am proud of through and through. I am fortunate to know them, to coach them, is an honor.
These girls have big plans for the 2024-2025 season and I know they can accomplish whatever they set their minds to!
