Colt starting
Hey, let’s update y’all on how this 3yo gelding by Brick Bronsin is riding. We are riding at around 20 rides or less. I have him another 6wks😍
Thank you clients for trusting me to put a good start on your babies!
Colt starting
2021 stud colt by the kandyman. 10wks under saddle!😍
Another 4wks (+-) and then I will begin patterning him on the barrels. 🤞🏼
Thank you Ericka for trusting me with this guy!
1st ride (colt starting)
3yo gelding by Brick Bronsin taking his 1st ride very well!
Our main focus on ride 1-5 is to get forward motion, follow the nose, stop, back up, flex and have movement from the saddle!✅
If something goes wrong, don’t nit pick, they’re just learning, so remember to have patience. As you see in the video this guy was a little resistant loping out to the left, so we switched directions and then back again. Asked him to keep going until he mellowed out.🤪
Thank you wonderful clients for trusting me! I have THREE stalls left for this year! I’m booked out until after September!
Clips from within 24hrs😁
We have been busy! Paint colt is riding at 18 rides, along with the bay colt, and the Bay filly isn’t too far behind them. All three youngens are getting exposed to trails, pastures, ponds, and arena work!👏🏼
Thankful for my wonderful clients!
Finn making a pretty pattern for his FIRST time loping through the barrels.
Day 7 working on body control, and day 3 working on the pattern!
I feel potential in this youngen! Thank you Anna Perry and Jennifer Hickman for trusting me with your horse! 😁
Colt starting- first ride
2021 stud colt by The kandyman, excelling on his first ride!
The first ride is probably the most important ride of their life, so you need to make sure you do it as successfully as you can. Every ride after this will be affected by this ride either in a good way or a bad way. But being successful on the first ride doesn’t mean everything is perfect, it just means everything went smoothly; the horse was content and willing, focus on moving forward, & following their nose, everything else will come later. Reassure your horse and let them learn confidence!😁
Courtney’s 3yo cruising a nice set of barrels this afternoon! She has been so willing to learn and takes everything with ease. She has had about 20-25 days barrel work, and the other 5-10 days were dry work!
She is staying another 6wks, and I can’t wait to see the progress!☺️
Thank you Courtney for trusting me and having patience in us!
Hey clients, I will now be offering therapy sessions to your horses using the theraplate - vortex wave circulation therapy.
Here are some benefits from using the theraplate:
☑️ helps improve blood flow & circulation
☑️ helps to increase muscle mass (especially those who are stalled)
☑️ helps increase bone density
☑️ reduces inflammation & swelling
☑️ promotes relaxation
Along with many other benefits.
Let’s keep your athletes feeling at their best, and minimize unnecessary health issues!☺️
If you would like to incorporate this therapy to your training, message me and we can set you up on a schedule!
I also now have a few extra stalls added and will occasionally be taking in a few more clients. (Outside stalls!!)
Day #1 on the pattern!🫣😍
3yo Sedona has been in training for 7 days, working on circle transitions, hip engaging, and shoulder crossing before we went to the pattern. ✅
She makes it look easy!
Thank you Courtney for trusting me to pattern yours!
At first all I wanted to be was a barrel horse trainer and go big, but somehow I got into starting colts…
and who am I kidding, I LOVE it!
This year I want to embrace my training as a colt starter and let it take me wherever it shall lead! So here is to many great colts (to come) this year and to 353 days of opportunity!🥂😁
Ride #2 for Double on da rocks
Sometimes horse training is not pretty, like 7 out of 10x🤪
Here I am putting ride #2 on Lucy, she is very willing up until I asked her to lope. When I asked her to lope, she kicked out a few times, and I let her get by with it the first few, after that I decided to grab her nose and get after her. Once she understood I wasn’t going to put up with it, she got into a lope much more willingly.☺️
She catches on quickly!!😁
1st ride
Lucy, aka double on da rocks, has had 7 days of groundwork, and her 1st ride as of 12/19/23.
Feel free to message me with any questions, I have openings starting May 2024!
Thank you!☺️
Lucy - aka “Double on da rocks” 2021 filly
Day #2, first time being saddled!🤩
Consistent and firm groundwork, equals solid foundation. Those who come natural, just make it LOOK easier!😉
1st ride!
Gwen achieved her 1st ride this week! We always take our time and allow the horse to take it all in, slowly.😁
Thank you Nicky Belt for trusting me!!🥰
First saddling at Holland Horses!
Gwen is a 3yo filly, who is a granddaughter of quick little Lena!
She is with me for colt starting and has already had her 1st ride, which I will share soon too!
Stormy the ornery youngster!
He’s still figuring things out, but he is progressing!!🖤😍
Enjoy this video of a first ride!👏🏼
PSA- unless I have cancellations, I have no stalls available until May 16th 2024.
Thanks for being awesome clients!! ♥️
So proud to see this gelding coming through!😅
Stormy is very smart and athletic, but he wanted to start out a little cinchy or maybe cold back, I’m still not sure. I’m hopeful it’s just “acts of being a colt”😉 and he’ll grow out of it.
He got his 1st ride yesterday with about 3wks solid groundwork, prior!
If there’s one thing about my training it’s that I take my TIME, I am never in a hurry to ride a colt or achieve a task. I want to make certain that the colt is ready and knows what to do before I get on; it makes the rides so much easier, especially if the owner has to continue the green colt. (They’ll have a solid foundation to fall back on)
Thank you Kendra Jones Ingle for trusting me with your horse, and being patient!
🫢I am the trainer who waits until the time is right, and if you’re in a hurry, I am not the trainer for you.🤪
I still have two stalls open for 30 days, August 30th!
