Today Mr Remy had a little adventure to Loweā€™s!

Heā€™s coming along so nicely with his training.

Part of the appeal for the program that heā€™s in is to make sure that not only will he be the perfect gentleman at home, but heā€™ll also behave beautifully in public around distractions as well.

Here weā€™re adding in distance and duration with the down command. Even after I almost took myself out tripping over the couch, Remy still stayed in the down. šŸ«£

Today was one of the things we worked on was adding a little bit of distractions at the door by ringing the bell. I also started introducing that when I put my hand on the door, he has to either go into a sit/down.

This is the first day into his second week of training and heā€™s doing awesome!!

Today Mr. Remy worked on the introduction to the e collar and introducing opposition reflex on place.

When introducing the e collar, itā€™s very important to add it with a command that they are already very confident with so thereā€™s no confusion.

Adding in opposition reflex into all commands makes each command very clear in their mind and that they canā€™t break the command until you give them the release command.

Does your dog try to run you over when you open the door? How about when you have guests over and they canā€™t be out because they think everyone is there to see them and jump all over everyone? Creating respect at the door is going to assure that you will no longer have to worry about door bolting, pulling you over, barging out as soon as it opens like itā€™s a game of catch me if you can.

This is Remyā€™s first time working on door manners and he did awesome!!

Remyā€™s first lesson introducing the place command.

The place command is such a great command to teach that has a multitude of benefits. A few being if you have a dog that isnā€™t 100% house broken, it give you a controlled spot to keep them so you can keep an eye out for signs of them having to go to the bathroom, if you get a food delivery/package, you donā€™t have to worry about them wanting to see whatā€™s going on with bolting out of the door, and if you are eating dinner, donā€™t want to lock them up in a crate so they donā€™t bother you, you put them on place and they get to be a part of family time.

The rules for place are
You canā€™t get off without being told free
Canā€™t bark while in place
And for puppies, it teaches you how to read what signs they give when they do have to go to the bathroom, so itā€™s a major help with getting them transitioned from crate training to being house broken.

This is Re*****on, aka Remy.

His family just signed him up for my Day Training: Basic program.

This program consists of lessons at your house Monday-Friday for 1 month. Then after the weekly lessons are finished, you have the option for 2 lessons a month for a year.

The commands taught in this program are
Place
Down
Door manners ( so no more bolting out the door)
Off command ( donā€™t have to worry about them jumping up on guests)
Loose leash walking
Into to recall
Crate manners

This is his third day training and heā€™s loving it so far. His food drive isnā€™t the best, so I had to figure out a food that he loves. Which it seems that Iā€™ve found a winner with Farmina and Open Farm!!

Today we were working on the introduction to the down. Once he has a clear understanding of what Iā€™m asking, the next step is to proof the command where Iā€™ll be able to get more duration in the command and will be able to hold the down with a bunch of distractions.

Follow along on his journey for the next month to also see the finished product!!!
