National Dog Day on August 26 encourages dog ownership of ALL breeds. While seeking a new companion, be sure to consider the mutts, mixes, purebreds, and everything in between!! ESPECIALLY all the homeless dogs waiting in overflowing shelters across the nation!!

Whether mixed or purebred, embrace the opportunity for all dogs to live a happy, safe, and abuse-free life. They all give us companionship. Additionally, they keep us safe, and they aid those in need. Dogs play. Well, they play many roles in our lives, too! They keep us healthy, both physically and mentally.

While many days aim to find loving homes for dogs, this day expands that consideration to look beyond the breed. Look into the heart of the animal. The purpose of the National Dog Day Foundation is to rescue 10,000 dogs each year!

📢 CLEAR THE SHELTERS 📢

We are excited to announce $75 adoption fees from August 10 to September 10, with pre-approved adoption applications! Business hours 1PM to 6PM on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, closed on Sunday and Tuesday. Adopters on Saturdays can spin the wheel for prizes.

View available dogs and complete an adoption application at www.ccareinc.org. Keep checking the website as new dogs arrive!

Special event on September 7 from 10AM to 4PM will include fees waived, open house, and refreshments!

All dogs at CCARE are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, dewormed, microchipped, and ready to go home with you! 🥰

Clear The Shelters also has a fundraising campaign led by Greater Good Charities. Donations can be made Aug. 1 to Sept. 30 at ClearTheSheltersFund.org. Make sure you select Clay County Animal Rescue and Education Center for your donation. Hill’s Pet Nutrition and The Animal Rescue Site will be providing matching funds periodically through the fundraising campaign.

We have dangerously high temperatures again!!!

🥵Please make sure your pets are protected from the heat!
💦Plenty of access to fresh water
🌳Lots of shade if your pets can’t be inside
🚶‍♀️‍Move exercise to cooler times of day and limit exercise
🐾Be cautious of pavement temperatures so your pets don’t burn their paw pads
✂️Don't shave all their fur off
🚗Do NOT leave your pets in the car

Studies have shown that cracking a window for your pet makes absolutely NO difference on the temperature inside the car. Heat stroke/exhaustion is a serious condition and can lead to death. PLEASE leave your pet at home in a safe and cool environment when possible...they will be happily waiting for you to get home!

Does your pooch love the water?

CCARE, in partnership with the Clay Center Aquatic Park, will hold the 3nd Annual Pooch Plunge fundraiser on Tuesday, September 3, from 5:30pm to 7pm at the Clay Center Aquatic Park. The pool will ONLY be open for this event.

Entry fee is $5.00 per dog, cash only.

Have fun, but please follow the Pooch Plunge Rules to keep everyone safe:

• Dogs only - no other pets.
• Dogs must be leashed at all times.
• Dogs must be at least six months old.
• All dogs must be currently vaccinated. MUST bring proof of vaccination to obtain entry.
• Female dogs “in season” are not allowed.
• Unruly participants will be asked to leave.
• Owners must be in control of pet(s) at all times. No pet toys allowed.
• All minors must be accompanied by an adult.
• Humans may only enter water up to hip-depth.
• Please practice pet etiquette and clean up after your dog. Plastic bags will be available.
• The diving board and slides are closed.
• The admission gate may be open so the facility is not entirely gated.

Hi, I'm Rascal! I'm a very loveable 1 year old boy. I give the best hugs, although I'm still learning how BIG I am. I'm learning to walk good on a leash and I know how to sit and paw ( I give both just in case)! I love pleasing my people so I listen carefully. I have big ears to hear better. I'm a hound dog so you should hear me bark sometime. I can be loud but I'm a lover not a fighter. I don't like super loud noises they scare me. I love treats...who wouldn't?! Hi! I'm Zuly! I really love to run and play! My favorite game is keep away and my favorite toy is a ball...I love to carry it around all the time!! I love taking baths and walking through puddles! For my size, I'm small but stout. You can brush me if you want and I will protect you from everything. I'm learning some commands like sit and down. Kim says I'm doing better on the leash. With your help, we could secure $2,000 in matching funds during Gather for Good Match Day on September 19th, 2024!

Gather for Good Match Day offers Clay County Animal Rescue & Education Center (CCARE) a chance to receive up to $2,000 in matching funds from the Clay Center Community Improvement Foundation for donations made to our fund.

CCARE is a non-profit animal shelter in a small rural community. We have helped almost 1,600 dogs since we opened 8.5 years ago. Most dogs that find their way to CCARE are unwanted, and we find new loving homes for them. Other dogs are lost, and we keep them safe and cared for until they can be returned to their owners. All dogs are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, dewormed, and microchipped before adoption. Our annual budget is spent on operating costs, dog care and medical expenses, and building improvements and repairs.

Gifts up to $1,000 per donor per organization will be eligible for a 50% match. For example, if a donor gives a $1,000 gift to a participating fund during match day, they are eligible to receive a 50% match of $500. Ĥere is how you donate:

Write one check payable to CCCIF for your entire donation. Fill out the donation form to specify amounts for participating organizations. Mail donations to the Clay Center Community Improvement Foundation, 432 Court Street, Clay Center, KS 67432, received by September 24, 2024. Check should be dated 9/19/24. Hello! My name is Noodles, I think it's because my tail is very curly like a noodle. I am a very good boy, maybe a little crazy at times but, aren't we all?! The staff at the shelter are working on getting me more comfortable with getting leashed up, but I walk VERY well on a leash and I love playing outdoors with you! I'm a little skittish with a few strange things like loud noises. I'm a very good copilot...my favorite place to ride is the passenger seat! I love getting brushed and I will also tolerate a bath when you decide it is spa day! When I'm ready to go inside I will even come to the door! I can be a little leary of new people at first, but once I get to know you, I am a total lover!!
