I have been asked about this breed and what they are. So I found a little information on them to help explain better. These are pictures from the internet because my rooster has not grown his long beautiful tail yet.
Japanese Ohiki or also known as Minohiki. They are true long tails. This little chicken has been bred for a pet rather than for eggs, meat or fighting. They are naturally friendly, loving, intelligent and trainable. Roosters get along with one another, unlike others and will even protect the chicks, allowing them to huddle underneath for warmth and security just like a hen. These are tiny bantams, most of them are not much bigger than a Serama. The rooster tails can take a while to fully bloom, but they are amazing when they drag the ground behind the birds. They are rare and hard to obtain. As far as I know, as I was told there are only 3 breeders in this area. If you want a smart tiny chicken that will follow you like a puppy and fly up to sit on your shoulder like a parrot, then get yourself an Ohiki.
