History
Feline Canine Rescue's roots began when three girls became interested in Puppy Mills and animal rescue. This interest branched into a full-fledged donation drive for the Suncoast Animal League, producing hundreds of dollars and dozens of animal supplies. Vida, Ella, and Abby, the founders of Feline Canine Rescue, started becoming interested in other forms of animal rescue, such as feral c
ats. From there, the three girls began fostering for the Suncoast Animal League. Present Day
Feline Canine Rescue currently has two main functions. The first, is TNR (Trap, Neuter, Return) and feral cat care. FCR spays and neuters feral cats and feral cat colonies all over Pinellas County. We are also partly responsible for several colonies. After finishing TNR in a colony, we secure a "caregiver" who makes sure the cats needs are met and they are fed. If a problem arises FCR will attend to it and work with the caregiver. As of today, we've successfully done TNR in at least four colonies in Pinellas County. If you're interested in becoming a caregiver in a colony near you, learning more about feral cats and TNR, or helping us with TNR, message us today! The second main thing FCR does is rescue and adopt out cats and kittens. Many colonies that FCR does TNR in has kittens. These kittens are not permanently set in their feral ways, and can often be socialized and adopted out. Feline Canine Rescue takes surrenders as well. Often times people cannot keep their pets. They might be moving, having a baby, etc., and they just can't keep their pet anymore. FCR offers a humane alternative to Animal Services. No animal taken in by us will be ever be euthanized; we are purely no-kill. Cats and kittens taken in by us are spayed or neutered, given certain shots and tested for diseases, socialized and then adopted out for an adopt fee. If you're interested in adopting from Feline Canine Rescue or becoming a much needed foster home, message us today! Future
Feline Canine Rescue is currently in the process of becoming an official 501( c )3 non-profit organization. We plan to expand our current horizons in several ways. We plan on continuing TNR throughout the county. We're going to begin taking transfers from other organizations, mainly Animal Services, to prevent animals from being euthanized. We hope to build a foster system so we can begin to take in more animals. We can't do it without you, though! Feline Canine Rescue is built on the community, help us expand today!
