Diggin That Dog Outings – What Are They?

Our outings are structured adventures where we take your dog on exciting trips outside their usual routine. These could be nature hikes, urban walks, playdates, or confidence-building excursions designed to challenge and enrich your dog’s life.

Benefits of Outings for Your Dog:

✔ Physical Exercise – Helps burn off energy, keeping your dog fit and healthy.
✔ Mental Stimulation – New sights, smells, and experiences keep your dog’s brain engaged.
✔ Socialization – Exposure to new people, dogs, and environments improves confidence and behavior.
✔ Training Reinforcement – We practice obedience and manners in real-world situations.
✔ Reduced Boredom & Anxiety – A tired, fulfilled dog is a happy dog!

Outings are a great way to provide enrichment, build confidence, and help your dog become a well-rounded companion. Want to learn more? Reach out to schedule an adventure for your pup!

Mastering the Place Command: Why It’s a Game-Changer for Your Dog!

At Diggin That Dog, we love teaching the place command because it’s one of the most useful and versatile skills your dog can learn! Whether you want a calmer household, better impulse control, or a well-mannered pup in public, place has got you covered.

What is the Place Command?

Place means your dog goes to a designated spot (like a bed, cot, or mat) and stays there until released. It helps build focus, patience, and confidence while giving your dog a clear job to do.

The Benefits of Teaching Place:

✔ Impulse Control – Teaches your dog to settle instead of jumping, barking, or begging.
✔ Calmness & Relaxation – Helps anxious or excitable dogs learn to self-soothe.
✔ Better Household Manners – Great for when guests arrive, mealtime, or cleaning.
✔ Safety & Boundaries – Prevents door dashing and keeps your dog out of trouble.
✔ Public Manners – Ideal for taking your dog to pet-friendly stores, patios, or events.
✔ Builds Confidence – Gives nervous dogs a structured “safe space” in new environments.

How to Start Teaching Place:

1️⃣ Choose a Place – A raised cot, bed, or mat works best.
2️⃣ Lead Your Dog to It – Use a leash or treat to guide them onto it.
3️⃣ Reward & Release – Mark with “Yes!” and give a treat when all four paws are on.
4️⃣ Increase Duration – Gradually extend the time before releasing them.
5️⃣ Add Distractions – Practice with guests, food, or noises to build reliability.

Oh, Beaux! 🥰

This sweet pup has quite the voice and isn’t shy about letting everyone know how he feels—especially Mom! 🤦🏼‍♀️

Separating a puppy from their mom or siblings before 8 weeks of age is never ideal. It robs them of crucial time to learn valuable life skills, like confidence and social behavior. Unfortunately, Beaux left his litter three weeks too soon, which has led to some challenging behavioral hurdles.

But despite his rocky start, we’ve already made amazing progress in just one week! To ensure Beaux continues to grow into a confident and well-adjusted pup, we’ve extended his stay to focus on reducing his dependency and building independence.

Stay tuned as this vocal little guy transforms into a more self-assured pup—and maybe even learns to use his “inside voice” more often! 😜

Oh Happy Doodle Day at Diggin That Dog!

Big or small, curly or wavy, we love them all! 🐾💛 Today, we’re celebrating our favorite fluffy, fun-loving Doodles! From Goldendoodles to Labradoodles (and everything in between), they bring the best energy and smiles to our training sessions.

Did you know? Doodles are a mix of Poodle and another breed, making them intelligent, friendly, and often hypoallergenic. Their high energy and love for learning make them amazing training partners, but their smarts also mean they need plenty of mental stimulation and guidance. These pups are as unique as their curls!

Got a Doodle? Let’s see those pics in the comments! 📸✨

“Bailey the Rottie Mix and Rica the Doodle had a paws-itively amazing time at the park with one of our trainers! 🐾 From sniffing out adventures on the trails to showing off their skills in a brand-new environment, these two were the ulti-mutt stars. Park outings like this are fur-tastic for training, socializing, and having a howlin’ good time!

Walking is paws-down the best way to bond with your dog, creating un-fur-gettable moments and building trust. Adding park adventures to the mix helps your pup stay focused and paw-some, even with distractions all around. It’s a tail-wagging win for everyone!

“Big Mac is mastering ‘place,’ Mango is taking it up a notch with random object ‘place,’ and Moose is just getting started on their training journey. 🐾 No matter where your dog is in their training, every step is worth celebrating!

Consistency is key. Whether you’re working on the basics or advanced skills, as long as you follow through with clear expectations, your dog will learn to follow right along. Trust the process, stay patient, and watch the progress unfold.

❄️ Snowmaggedon 2025?

More like SNOW problem for Diggin That Dog! 🐾 We shoveled, sniffed, and sledded our way through the winter wonderland! 🌨️ The pups loved it, the trainers survived it, and our leash skills stayed solid even on icy streets! 🐕💨

Winter weather may be ruff, but we’re paws-itively unstoppable! Stay warm, stay safe, and don’t fur-get to give your pups extra cuddles after all that snow zooming! 🐶✨

Stay safe!
