KEEP YOUR FURRY FAMILY MEMBERS IN MIND THIS SEASON!

Seasonal plants like poinsettias are toxic to cats and dogs. If ingested, they cause vomiting & diarrhea. Opt for artificial plants or simply don’t use these varieties.

Also keep in mind that small ornaments pose a choking hazard.
Anything that could hurt your pet should be kept out of reach or out of the house altogether.

🔴🟢 Please don't put this in your dog's Christmas stocking 🟢🔴

It's that time of year again when store shelves are stocked with Christmas-themed rawhide "treats" for our dogs.

Before you purchase rawhide for your dog, PLEASE read the following. You may be shocked at how it's made and the chemicals used in the process...chemicals that your dog is consuming when you give him rawhide as a "treat."

⚠️⚠️ DID YOU KNOW? ⚠️⚠️

Rawhide is a dog chew that’s a by-product of the LEATHER industry.

It is made from the inner layer of either cow or horse hides. The outer layer of the hides is the leather that is used for shoes, garments, upholstery, etc.

The inner rawhide is treated, dehydrated, and then formed into various shapes as a dog chew.

Once the hide has been separated from the animal, it’s first dipped into high salt brines to slow the decay which can make it very salty.

The hide will also be cleaned with detergent and degreasers and sterilized with low concentrations of hydrogen peroxide.

The next step after this is to remove any hair or fat attached, which involves harsh chemical combinations.

Then additional chemicals, such as lime, are deployed to separate the layers of skin.

Once the hide has been separated, it is ready to be made into rawhide for dogs. During this process, artificial colors and flavors may be added to make them look and smell more appealing, and they’re then manipulated into fun shapes which can sometimes involve glue.

Some risks of rawhide for dogs (other than the variety of chemicals they are ingesting):

1. Rawhide can cause intestinal obstruction

2. Can be a choking hazard

3. Can break your dog's teeth

4. Contamination/exposure to salmonella or E. coli to dogs & people.

I know I haven’t been on here in a while, I’ve been busy with the kids and my regular sitting clients. So I wanted to give a heads up.

❌ RAPESEED! ❌

It’s that time of year again where farmers fields have blossomed into pretty yellow flowers, these plants are called rapeseed. Although it may be tempting to place your dog in the mist to take a scenic photo, please avoid this at all costs!

Rapeseed is extremely poisonous for dogs, especially in highly sensitive canines.

Rapeseed is listed by Dogs Trust as toxic to our dogs if ingested and can cause symptoms such as:

❌ Hemolytic Anemia
❌ Blindness
❌ Damaged Nervous System
❌ Digestive Disorders
❌ Breathing Problems

Even walking through these fields should be avoided! In June 2019, a dog has been reported to suffer from severe open wounds after running through a crop of rapeseed.

Please seek immediate veterinary attention if your dog shows any signs of rapeseed poisoning!

Found Kittens and want to help but don't know how? We are here to help!

With the spring weather upon us, you might come across a litter of kittens and think "I need to save them!" as we most do! But more often than not, mom is hunting nearby and taking good care of her precious babies. Don't Kit-Nap the kittens!

Neonate kittens have the best chance of survival if they stay with their mom until they are 6 weeks of age. Please see our flow chart for how to best help the babies.

As March comes to an end and April begins, just a friendly reminder we are transitioning into mating season, remember coyotes will not go out of their way to attack your dog or cat. And tend to only attack when threatened. They would much rather eat the rabbits.

Opposums are your friends! They CANNOT carry rabies, and they eat the ticks in your yard!! They will not eat your pets, but they can mate with your cats...

Raccoons mean you no harm, and sometimes come out during the day to get away from their young and to hunt when it's been slim pickings at night.

Before you mow do a walk of your yard and look for baby bunnies, they can be covered in grass so that you can't see them until it's too late...

If you follow this page DONT. This girl is NOT helping animals. She is the very reason most people just abandon animals they find and don’t even post them because people like her come and bully you because the help you can give is not up to her “standards”. She is a tyrant that thinks that just because she started a group on Facebook to “help” animals she’s better and more entitled than you are. I’ve been in the animal care world for over 12 years now and it is people like her that cause more bad than good. I deleted myself from this group and reported her and this page. And the post I’ve shared is exactly why. You cannot expect people to stay with animals no matter what. And claiming there are no excuses for leaving them is ridiculous. Sometimes all people can do is take a picture because the animal will not come to them or it runs off or you have kids in the car and you don’t know that dog! Y’all know I am the first person to take in an animal. But I will not condone this kind of mentality.

I had a friend who was an admin on this page message her about her post and she started back tracking saying she’s been misunderstood but I‘m pretty sure it’s all there in black and white, and pretty plain English to me. She blocked my friend from the page. She’s losing followers and admins on her page because of this and I hope no one else falls for this crap.
