Carlos is a gentle natured guy. He is a little shy when meeting new people but is eager to make new friends. He is very cautious, it is obvious that he was not treated very nicely before rescued. He is very passive and loves to be pet and be close to his people. He has excellent manners and is crate trained, quiet in his kennel, potty trained with no accidents, and has great manners in the yard with no destructive behavior. He will attempt to counter surf occasionally, but is very sensitive to the word no and will redirect quickly. Gentle correction is all that is needed for any behavior that is unwanted.
He loves his stuffies and enjoys having nylon chews or bones on hand. He greets other dogs with the best of manners. He is eager to say hello, and is very intent on reading their body language. He is not pushy about making friends and has a very kind disposition when meeting other dogs, both big and small. He is very respectful of the space of both his human pals as well as his doggy pals.
He is a quiet dog and doesn't really bark, but he will whine a little if he needs to go outside to potty or when the excitement of feeding time comes. He will cower at a hand coming from above him sometimes at first, but once he learns to trust his people, it is very rare that he does that. A slow approach and petting from below is encouraged when getting acclimated to new friends, he has the Innocence of a puppy, without the crazy pupp He is a medium energy guy. Carlos loves to explore his surroundings outdoors and takes his time sniffing all the wonderful smells nature has to offer. He has excellent recall, and enjoys playing with toys outside as well. He walks great on a leash, but again only requires gentle instruction for whatever is expected.
He is a people pleaser and a very sensitive soul. He has enjoyed the time that he has gotten to meet young children and thinks that they are so much fun!
