Sophie’s turn! Why has this sweet girl been waiting over a year?

Sophie does have a congenital heart condition that is managed with daily medication. At her recent 6 month check up it was determined she is stable and only needs to be seen annually!

We hope something Sophie has no control over, isn’t stopping you from adopting her. Her medication is under $20 a month, and she takes it without issue.

Please consider giving this deserving girl a home.

Sophie is searching for her perfect forever home!

Sarah, a trainer at Pet Education Center by TBC, has seen Sophie in a variety of classes from nosework to tricks class. She has a good idea of the type of gal she is, so here’s what she has to say:

“Sophie is the perfect level of fun for any family. She does a great job in classes and her tail never stops wagging while learning new tricks without being pushy or over excited. She's an adorable, cuddly meatball and everyone around her can't help but smile along with her. Sophie is just a fantastic all around family dog who just needs a fantastic family to give her a chance!”

We hope to see you tonight at the last Yappy hour of the season!

This week at The Winery at Wolf Creek we have our final Yappy Hour of the season complete with costume contest for the dogs. We also look forward to having Jim Gill out on Wednesday night from 6:30-8:30 for live music, and Cousins Maine Lobster will be here Thursday from 3 to 9pm. We look forward to seeing you here this week.

After over a year in foster care, Sophie’s foster mom has gotten to know her pretty well. What makes Sophie such a catch? Well, in addition to being beautiful, dog friendly, and great with humans of all sizes.. Sophie is:

E (enthusiastic)

What more could you ask for? Sophie has even tested well with cats. She enjoys going on hikes and is a big snuggle bug.

Sweet, social Sophie is still waiting for her forever home!

Special dog looking for a special home! ❤️

Sophie is still available for adoption. She’s the same sweet, playful, snuggly girl she has been since we pulled her, but she does have a new medical diagnosis.

She was diagnosed with Tricuspid Valve Disorder and Pulmonic Stenosis - both congenital. The cardiologist graded her heart murmur a 5/6, which is significantly worse than when she was pulled 8 months ago. Sophie has a severe obstruction of 178 mm of mercury (80 is needed to be classified as severe). Because of this her life expectancy will be reduced, and more clinical symptoms could become present as she ages. She is now on daily medication, will require regular follow ups with a cardiologist, and monitoring activity/play since bursts of activity can increase her risk of collapse.

We understand that her condition may limit homes that she may be suitable for, but we know her perfect place is out there! She is estimated to be around 3.5 years old, but that is just an educated guess. We cannot guarantee how much time you will have with Sophie. We cannot predict how her body will respond to changes over time, and if her treatment plan will need altered along the way. What we can tell you though is that Sophie is 100% worth the extra care and monitoring! Her foster always has great things to say about her. She loves showing off her tricks for people. She is well behaved in the home and enjoys taking walks. If you have a place in your heart for a girl whose heart isn’t perfect but will love you just the same - please consider Sophie! Can you skip a Dunkin run this week to help Sophie?! She has congenital heart issues and has to see a cardiologist on a regular basis to track any changes and adjust her treatment plan accordingly. As long as she is still with us and waiting for a home, we will need to provide these visits for her (in addition to her routine care). Seeing a specialist isn’t cheap but is necessary for her, and is made possible thanks to our generous supporters. She’s been waiting a whole year, so we hope her time comes soon! Her next cardio appointment is in November, but now is the perfect time to donate since donations are being matched/doubled!!
