If only we could know what he knows 🩵 Like many of our rescues, Silverado’s past is a bit of a mystery. We do know he spent most of his life pulling a cart for the Amish. Despite his tough exterior, he’s a true gentle giant with a heart full of wisdom and calm. Silverado is looking for a family where he can live out his days peacefully with a few friends—both human and horse.

🌟 Soft Landings Program Update 🌟

Ann and Redford are building a beautiful partnership! In this sequence, they’re working on getting Redford more comfortable with humans around his head. Starting with a hand nearby, they’ll gradually progress to direct contact as Redford becomes more at ease. For now, this is what he’s comfortable with, and they’ll build from here!

They’re also practicing standing quietly and walking together at liberty. True connection happens when horse and human are in sync and consenting. It was truly beautiful to witness! 🐴❤️

Dakota Update💙
A couple of months ago, we shared the story of Dakota, a senior gelding who came to us after suffering severe neglect.

We’re thrilled to report Dakota is doing wonderful and continues to charm all our staff and visitors with his gentle nature and resilience. He has gained weight and is in excellent spirits. He’s even found a new friend in his turnout buddy🖤

Dakota’s rehabilitation required extensive care, including medication for Cushing’s disease, trims for his overgrown hooves and severe Thrush. Our team has been providing him with the necessary veterinary care, farrier services, and a specialized feeding protocol to support his recovery.

🐴 Bill Bay is Still Looking for His Forever Home!

Bill is a mid-teens Quarter Horse standing at 14.2 hands tall. He thrives on one-on-one attention and, once he trusts you, his true personality shines✨

Bill is gentle and sweet, enjoying long walks in hand. While he’s sound for riding, he would need to be started from the ground up. With his love for exploring, he has the potential to be an excellent trail horse!

Bill has made great progress with positive reinforcement training, becoming more comfortable with being haltered and handled. He needs a gentle and patient person to bring out his best self.

Bill enjoys living outside 24/7 but requires a low-sugar diet. He gets along well with both mares and geldings in his mixed herd.

Aspen has been a regular participant in our Soft Landings program, a physical and mental enrichment program for our senior and unsound equines that utilizes positive reinforcement. With the help of and our dedicated volunteers, he has been learning to lead at liberty, station on mats, stand quietly, and more.

2024 has been a challenging year for non-profits, but thanks to your incredible support, as well as our dedicated staff, volunteers, and donors, we’ve successfully rehomed over 30 equines and rescued countless more who are safe and waiting for their forever homes✨ Did you know? Tens of thousands of horses are at risk of being shipped for slaughter each year in the US. Organizations like ours work tirelessly to provide these majestic animals with a second chance at life❤️‍🩹 Cheers to 2024, and let’s make 2025 even better!🎆 Together, we can continue to make a difference in the lives of these wonderful creatures🐎

Jolly Rancher aka “JR” is still with us! This handsome gelding has a heart of gold and a personality as sweet as his name. JR loves being groomed, led around, and stands perfectly for the farrier. He’s always ready for some affection!

As an older gentleman, JR is seeking a peaceful home where he can enjoy a quiet life. He gets along wonderfully with horses of all ages and brings a wise, calming presence to the herd. JR is truly a joy to have around!
