At the beginning of July there was a photo of an emaciated dog circulating off of Hwy 421 that no one could catch. It had a huge red collar on and would show up and disappear again infrequently—sometimes with knarly injuries from who knows what (peep the scarring on his side.)

Last Saturday I saw another picture of him, this time with no collar and much worse off. He was going to die if someone didn’t help. I hopped in the car, deciding that I could always take him to the county shelter if he needed more help than I could fundraise.

When I first saw him he ran from me but I sat on the ground and it was as if he was just waiting on someone to step in, because he quite literally RAN straight to me and got into my lap. At that point we both knew he was going to come with me and I would figure out his care one way or another.

This is Kronk. He’s only a year(ish) old. He weighed in at 36lbs the first day, and gained almost 5lbs within the first five days. He’s been seen by our vet to get vaccines, dewormer, and flea/tick meds. He was not microchipped before but he is now. He should weigh close to 70lbs—so he was literally HALF of his body weight.

He has completed his mandated stray hold and is currently in a foster home.

It’s been a handful of weeks since we last updated you on Shep ❤️

Shep was abused, severely. His ears have been ripped off and were in various states of healing, he had an injury to his eye that caused it to quite literally shrivel up and die, raised voices make him panic and pancake to the ground, but the survivor in this boy is absolutely astounding.

We know he was used as a bait dog, but even so he is incredible with other dogs and even plays with the baby goats. He has gone from a furry skeleton to a 60lb, one-eyed dream boat!

We still need funds for his heartworm treatment which he has finally started now that his weight has balanced out. It is going to run around $1,200 as per the estimate we recieved in April.

I know RLAR is always asking for funds, but look at Shep! YOUR donations and YOUR help changed his entire life. You did that! You raised the funds for his medical care and his food. You poured your prayers and love into a downtrodden dog that you’ve only ever seen videos and photos of on the internet. Your big heart is exactly why he is still on this Earth, realizing that humans can and will be kind to him.

King has been waiting on his forever home for over a YEAR!

He knows his basic obedience, he’s good with other dogs, he’s good with cats, he’s good with kids, he’s house and crate trained, and he’s looking for his forever home.

His adoption fee has been paid.

He’s neutered, heartworm negative, and up to date on his vaccines.

He’s just over a year old.

He weighs in around 50lbs.

You know someone who needs a King that will worship the ground they walk on. You do. We know you do. And if you don’t then one of the people you know, knows someone. Please help us by sharing him!

If we can’t find a home soon we will be forced to partner with other rescues to try to get these babies out of foster homes. We don’t have the donations coming in to continue to pay for his long term care, and honestly he just deserves his own home anyway.

Our little warrior, Roman, received the ultimate healing and ran over the rainbow bridge.

Roman gradually started losing strength and eating less, even though his eyes were on the mend. We took him back to the vet for subcutaneous fluids and a check up, but his little body just couldn’t fight any longer.

We want to say thank you to everyone who donated and sent him well wishes. Please keep our foster family in your thoughts as her children grew really attached to him in such a short time.

Baby Roman made it through the night!

Unfortunately we have another obstacle: his gums are almost white. We brought him back to the vet where he received subcutaneous fluids and had his eyes cleaned again.

We feel relatively confident that his left eye will recover but equally as confident that his right eye is ruptured and will need to be removed.

Romans mom had decided to stop feeding him and we will be placing him in a neonatal foster home once he is stable.

Please help this post get more visibility by liking, sharing and commenting! The more people that see it is the best possible way to raise awareness and fundraise for his upcoming enucleation (eye removal) which will be after he weighs at least 2lbs.
