One of LCH's traditions is to express our gratitude to our wonderful land owners by delivering gifts on Thanksgiving Day.

Very cold this year, but we have a few intrepid members!

Every day is a great day with the Tally Ho Show team šŸ’ÆšŸ’•

Had an opening in the schedule and feeling the absence of hunt season already, we made our way to Hillcrest Stables Horse Show! What a beautiful facility, and a smooth well organized show.

Looking forward to the next one!

I want to address a comment I’ve actually gotten several times from the same person, saying it’s concerning that a kids’ horse needs to be schooled at a show. They’re trying to turn it into a ā€˜catch me’ moment… but here’s the thing: kids’ horses only stay kids’ horses because adults ride them. A safe, reliable youth mount doesn’t happen by accident. Hollywood and Disney are not real. Stop romanticizing horses. Horses don’t magically sense that it’s a child and behave perfectly. Trust me, I’ve met plenty that would give themselves 100 points for yeeting a kid across the arena.

Kid horses are maintained through consistent schooling, reminders, tune-ups and keeping them honest. If your trainer isn’t regularly riding lesson horses, schooling client horses, and checking in on what your kids are sitting on, that’s when you should be concerned. Any reputable trainer is in the saddle often. It’s literally part of the job. And it’s the biggest reason your child gets to ride a horse who is kind, confident and well-prepared.

Being a Barn Family that Fox Hunts has allowed us to go to some pretty amazing places! North Carolina did not disappoint!
The 2025 Jr North American Field Hunter Championships was hosted by Moore County Hounds. We were so blessed to meet amazing people, and gain so much knowledge that we cannot wait to bring to the table for this area. Teaching our youth to appreciate the land, and conserve it for the future is the main theme at many of these events, and with 97 young riders from 12 states and Canada, it warmed my heart to see all the future advocates for saving the great outdoors.
Thank you Lincoln Sadler for introducing these Yankee kids to hound showing, I think you ignited a flame!
And thank you Limestone Creek Hunt for continuing to support the Jrs.

And a huge thank you to Paula Culver for being the best righthand woman, both as a fellow hunt member, and wingman for our 15 hour(or more) trip. Couldn't have done it without you!

Pretty soon this field will be white with snow! But how blessed are we to have this view!

The kids have been working hard getting ready for the Jr. National Field Hunter Championships. Warwick does a great job explaining Opening gates, which is one of the things that they will have to do potentially in the competition, along with crossing ditches and streams, dropping a rail from their horse, mounting and dismounting from the ground etc.
There might also be a "fox" in the woods they have to tally ho!

So excited. Thank you everyone for the support!

There are 95 jrs coming from around the country!

Lately, I have been talking a lot about only asking your horse "yes" questions, which means only asking them to do something that they can do. the more times you ask a horse to do something that's either impossible for them to do or something that bothers them and you have to get quite firm on them....
