Sometimes what we want and what happens in our horse world reality are completely different. I was hoping this morning for just a nice easy little birthday hack. But instead, as soon as I left the barn with my trusty Steed, it started to rain. I was like no big deal. I’ll just pretend that I’m in Europe lol. Never mind that my Steuben was getting wet. We get down to the arena and now Jethro has turned into an anxious mess as soon as I mount so the easy hack that I wanted has now turned into a amounting block session of let’s get over this anxiety of what happened to you in the rain while riding and now my saddle is completely soaked at this point because now it’s down pouring, but always a good time to step back and use it as a training moment. Never lose sight of the special moments with your horse regardless of what you want sometimes it’s what they need. We ended with a good mount, a stand still and a pat on the neck with a good boy.
