Update. We doubled our fun and now have 8!
Well we almost made it to transport on Saturday. We remind ourselves to be flexible 😳so here we are. With good luck we plan on meeting the rescue in Des Moines Tuesday. Current count is 4.
Megan is spending her last night in the Ozarks and heading north to our friends at Camp Companion tomorrow. She and 3 other abandoned pups leave our friends at I’m Your Huckleberry Rescue along with 12 other pups who came from the McAlester Oklahoma area and are staying overnight with Huckleberry. Working together with our dedicated fosters, this week we have 22 moving onto rescues who can place them much more quickly than what is available in our area.
We’ve been counting…we love math by the way. March is almost behind us and our first quarter numbers will be complete with the transport of one more dog for our friends at the Humane Society of the Ozarks in the next day so. We are tracking at a number similar to last year ( that’s good news) and so far 197 dogs will have will have enjoyed their freedom ride thanks to Ozark Freedom Drivers.
We hope Cracker, who we rescued from a home in Decatur 3 weeks, will be on a future transport after we continue showing him a life much different than the one he was born into. Two weeks ago he was untouchable and with some coaxing and going at his own pace, he’s making good progress. #dowhatyoulovelovewhatyoudo #WhateverItTakes #spayandneuter #DoNotBeAfraid
Away they went on two vans today; 24 dogs onto better lives. Normally everybody just sleeps and it’s so quiet you don’t even know there are dogs on the van. Not today; we supppose this choir will have you all raising your hand to drive three hours in the dark and rain. Puts new meaning in the phrase “are we there yet?”🙋🏻♀️😂🤦🏼♀️
Tonight we introduce Echo, a less than one year old collie who has lived a hard life. Such a loving boy and apparently hit by a car causing his left leg to have severe nerve damage. Sadly he will loose this leg next week. If we have any collie lovers in our group or you know of someone interested in adopting you will find no better gentler dog than Echo. Please say a prayer as he travels this road and if you are so inclined you may call Village Pet Hospital at 479-855-3057 and make a donation to pay for his amputation and post operative care which is an estimated $500. Thank you to his foster momma Carolyn for making his sling so he is no longer dragging his leg. You are the best!
Stay tuned these beautiful girls are arriving soon.
