What a cold but beautiful day at the Park. It was amazing to see the Park being used for some snow sports! A spattering of sledders and tobogganers dotted the hill below the Pavillion!

Did Santa Claus bring new books to your children and are you looking to free up space on your bookshelves for them? Please consider donating your older books to our Children’s Little Free Library at the East Fallowfield Township Park! The Parks and Recreation team is very pleased that our Little Free Libraries are being regularly visited by residents old and young! Your old favorites can become someone’s new favorite! If you are unable to take them to the Park, please contact me, Teri Dickinson, at [email protected] or PM me and I will be happy to pick them up from your home!

Edit: The box is pretty full today. Thank you to those who helped fill the libraries! If you still have books that you would like to donate, please contact me, and I will feed the library as it needs to be filled (see photo in comments!).

Bird watching at the Park this winter? You might see a few of these beautifully colored feathered friends flitting against the white snow backdrop!

The Northern Cardinal (Cardinalis cardinalis) is a frequent visitor to bird feeders all over East Fallowfield! The males have a thick bill, and are brilliant red, with a black mask and throat. The females are pale yellowish brown with warm reddish tinges in their wings, tails, and crests.

Cardinals get their trademark red plumage from their food, mostly from grains, seeds, and fruits like wild grapes, dogwood berries, and mulberries. If you ever see a bald Northern Cardinal, do not worry: though the bird might look sickly, it’s actually just molting. Every year birds replace their worn-out feathers with fresh ones, typically replacing a few feathers at a time. But cardinals can often lose all their head feathers at once, giving them a decidedly punk-inspired look in late summer after breeding.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!!!! READY TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN YOUR COMMUNITY?

I’m reaching out to share some exciting volunteer opportunities that will make a big impact in our community. The Parks and Recreation team is seeking dedicated volunteers to bring diverse and exciting program opportunities to the Township Park this year.

Last year, we entertained many residents and their families with music, family-friendly entertainment, and unique events. 2025 will be bigger than ever! We need your help! Can you spare a few hours to volunteer and share your ideas, your time, and your enthusiasm?

No experience is needed. The Parks and Rec Board meets on the first and third Tuesdays of the month at 6:30 PM at the East Fallowfield Township Building. Our next meeting is Tuesday, January 21st and we will be discussing our programming, Park needs, and goals. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me, Teri Dickinson at [email protected]. Hope you can join us!

Santa's helpers were busy preparing the Park Holiday Tree for the Tree-Lighting Festivities on Saturday, December 7th, at 6 PM. Rumor has it that Mr. Claus himself will arrive in style again this year! Thank you to the art students of East Fallowfield Elementary School for making all the brightly colored ornaments and also to the EFT Road Crew for hanging the lights! The East Fallowfield Elementary School Choir will be spreading holiday cheer so I hope to see everyone there!

Celebrate the Holiday Season’s arrival at East Fallowfield Township Park and join us for the annual Tree Lighting Event on Saturday, December 7th at 6 PM. The tree will be decked out with ornaments made by East Fallowfield Elementary School’s art classes, led by Ms. Willgruber, and will feature the East Fallowfield Township Elementary School chorus directed by Ms. Mullen! The Parks and Recreation team will be serving free hot chocolate and treats! Santa has already hinted that he will make an appearance to visit with good girls and boys (and maybe eat a cookie or two!)! Happy holidays!
