We want to extend our deepest gratitude to a kind and generous donor who recently made a wonderful contribution to Grant Parish Animal Control by covering 6 of our spay and neuter surgeries for February. This special donation was given in loving honor of his beloved dog, Toby, who has passed but will always be remembered with love! 💙

Magnolia Spay Neuter is kind enough to allow us 6 slots per month and continually works with us to schedule additional slots as needed for our adoptions. With an average surgery + rabies cost of $100 per dog, we are always appreciative of any help to stay on top of covering this cost and always looking for additional donors and sponsors. We proudly booked over $20,000 worth of surgeries alone in 2024! 🥳

Harper is being returned to the shelter in just a few days due to landlord issues beyond her adopters control, and we’re hoping to find her a loving home before that happens! To help her find her perfect match, her adoption fee is completely waived.

Harper is the absolute sweetest girl. She loves to cuddle—honestly, she thinks she’s a lapdog! Once she warms up to you, her silly and playful personality shines. She does great with other dogs her size and would love a home where she can get plenty of love and attention.

If you’re looking for a velcro dog who will be your loyal shadow, Harper is your girl. She’s got such a great personality and would make the perfect companion for someone looking for a sweet, affectionate pup.

Malanya and Mallory (who is hiding under her sister!) are 2 month old little puppers that came to us yesterday as strays. They just got fresh baths and are looking for a foster home for 2 weeks assuming no owners claim them!

Update! We got his vet visit covered and 1 adoption application, so fingers crossed it works out for him to escape the kennels today!

Bingo is back again with another favor to ask, but this time it’s for him! He seems to have a hernia that we would love to get checked out, but we need to raise the funds for a vet visit first. He is also in need of a temporary foster or foster-to-adopter to get his cute self out of the kennels!

Remember our old man named Buster? He was adopted about a month ago and was doing amazing! However, he recently got into a bit of a scuffle with his new siblings over some digging business, and it is no longer working out and isn’t a safe situation.

💙 Help us find him a new home! 💙

Buster is a very loving and affectionate dog that enjoys his one on one time with his humans, and will need someone that can better manage him adjusting to learning how to live with any new dogs in the home. Cats (and maybe even small dogs) are a big no-no with him as he does seem to have a strong prey drive. Even with his 8 years in age - he still has many young and outgoing moments left in him! Buster is house and crate trained - has even learned how to use the doggy door, and would be a great companion for someone looking for an older dog that likes to lounge and go on the occasional walk or ride in the car! He is already fully vetted and is on his second round of heartworm treatment - his adoption fee is also WAIVED and we are happy to set up trial adoption periods with him to make sure he is a good fit for your home before finalizing anything.

This sweet man is NOT at the shelter and his adopter is hanging on to him for now, but it is not a safe situation and we want to help place him in the right home.

-Tan dog was found on Hinds Rd in Po***ck.

Rescues - we have a 2 week hold on pulling to ensure we not only give ample time to find the owners, but also give the community a chance to adopt. After that time frame we are happy to accept rescue tags for anyone.

Ivor is TOO handsome to be homeless and still at our kennels! We are back open regular hours today until 6pm, so go ahead and arrange your schedule to come by and meet this hunk! If you were wondering if he’s winking at you, he is! He came in with an old injury to his left eye but it’s not painful to him - that right one still stares straight into your heart, doesn’t it?! 💙

His adoption fee is only $30 but you can take him home to foster temporarily for FREE! He is about 2 years old, already neutered, walks fantastic on a leash, and has also already mastered his his basic commands like sit - which is how we got this beautiful portrait of him 🥰

*Went to a foster home 8/17!* Barbara has been with us for 54 days, and while we’ve loved every moment with her, it’s time for her to find her forever home! During her stay, Barbara has been learning basic commands thanks to our dog savvy inmates who have spent so much time training her. She’s now a pro at sit, stay, and even a few fun tricks! 🎓 Barbara is amazing with other dogs and has the best manners—she’s truly a gem! Whether you’re looking for a permanent furry family member or are interested in fostering her temporarily, Barbara is ready to bring love and joy into your home. Beauty and brains…Meet Christina!

Check out this clip of our smart girl, Christina! Our inmates grow so attached to these dogs teaching them basic skills to get the set up for success in a home one day. We desperately need space right now and want to get her out of these kennels and into a home! Is anyone interested in fostering this girl for a few days? We are also happy to do trial adoptions to make sure she is a good fit - no strings attached!

We are begging…..if you can foster a pup even just for a few days, or if you’re interested in adopting, send us a message or submit an application ASAP and let us know what time you can come by tomorrow morning. We want to save as many dogs as we can but the truth is, we are over capacity and have been for several weeks now. Owners are not coming here to look for their lost pets and our adoptions have slowed down significantly. Please help us save some of these precious dogs that our staff, fosters, volunteers, and even our inmates have fallen in love with. They are all amazing dogs and don’t deserve to be transferred to Alexandria and euthanized simply due to space. Several of them are even already trained to follow basic commands, check out Steven in the video below! We keep our adoption fees affordable for our fully vetted dogs at only $30.
