Because her owners cared, Shady was surrendered to our shelter where she will receive all cares, veterinary and training evaluations, and safety. She could have easily been taken to an auction where she could have been easy pickings for a killbuyer.

The other 4 to arrive during the Free - Low Cost Surrender Event are here safe and sound! There are a couple others that will be grandfathered in as the logistics and paperwork gets figured out. Vet evaluations will begin tomorrow for the 22 beautiful souls that have entered our gates since Thursday. Obviously some will need more than others and your help to cover these costs would be most appreciated.

This is 22 horses that have not had to face the horrors of the slaughter pipeline because their owners cared enough about them to not send them to auction. Imagine the cost if we had had to go to the auction for these same 22 horses. However, their intake still comes at a great cost. We estimate each horse's initial costs (not including food, shelter, x-rays, etc), but just for their initial vet evaluation and vet cares will be at least $100. Are you able to help with this worthy event? Just because we didn't have to pay anyone for them, does not mean we incur no cost to keep them safe.

We will keep you all updated and if you are able to contribute to their intake costs, no amount is ever too small! Thank you all! 💗
