Who's getting excited for this weekend's 2024 Pony Tales Trail?! I know we are! We are in full prep mode and can't wait to see you all! This year is the 10 year celebration of Pony Tales Refuge. Since 2014, we have helped more than 1200 equines from all walks of life and all situations find it to safety at our shelter. We could not do any of it without all of you, so we are excited to celebrate this milestone with you all. 🥳

This year will feature some new trail routes, silent auction items, a photo scavenger hunt with prizes, awesome raffle prizes, a horse drawn wagon ride on Sunday for those who don't ride (limited seating), and more! This awesome brand new RS Saddlery trail saddle will be up for grabs along with some other incredible prizes, so be sure to come on out! And to wind it all up, Chris Kroeze will be performing from 5p-8p on Sunday, September 1, 2024 and the Ponytales Pizza truck will be here offering delicious wood fired pizzas!

If you plan to attend the concert, please remember that it is BYOB (no beverages will be available onsite) and while there will be some seating, there will not be much, so you may want to bring your own chair just in case. The weather is looking absolutely perfect, so come on out, have some fun, and join us in celebrating 10 years of saving lives!! ❤

Please give a huge Pony Tales welcome to Thunder and Cider!

Because their owner cared, these two boys were surrendered to our shelter where they will receive all cares, veterinary and training evaluations, and safety. They could have easily been taken to an auction where they could have been easy pickings for a killbuyer.
Thank you for caring about their future and trusting us to keep them safe. ❤️

We also want to thank all of you who donated to help cover the costs of their initial cares and the transport to get them safely to our shelter!

Brutally hot and sticky day, but with summer coming to an end and so much left to get done, Corbin and Aaron got busy constructing one of the two bridges we need for our run to span the water drainage area. These are two hard-working young men and we are lucky to have their help. We even set up one of our barn fans to help them beat the heat. ☺️ Stay tuned for the finished product as we pick which horse will give it a test run! 😉

We were contacted by a woman who is looking to surrender her two horses, but unfortunately cannot cover the costs to do so. Her husband has passed away and her kids have grown up and moved on. She has had quite a few hospital visits and is looking to downsize her home but has no place for her boys to go.

This is Cinder and Thunder. They are very sweet and are close pals. She is untrusting of finding them homes herself in fear they may end up in the wrong hands. Both boys are around 20 but from the sounds of it, have been well cared for.

We are asking for your help to cover the costs of the expenses we will endure once they arrive at our shelter and to transport them here safely. Can you donate today to guarantee these two a safe landing? No amount is ever too small!

We tried, but we are sad to report that there will not be a new episode of HRTT released tonight. We are neck deep in preparing for the upcoming Pony Tales Trail fundraising event featuring Chris Kroeze celebrating 10 years of saving lives. We will be streaming live during the concert and perhaps at other times too during the event if signal is good. Other than that, we will do our best to get shorter videos out here and there, but a new full episode will not air until September 10, 2024. We will miss you all and please feel free to contact us to check in on everyone. We hope to see you all when we return!

Dr. Pillman came out to do an ultrasound on Gretchen’s belly yesterday.

Thankfully he does not think it is a ruptured prepubic tendon but that it is a ruptured re**us abdominis.

Dr. Kristin was out today to vet check the new auction horses.

We had some amazing help from a bunch of the “Teenyboppers” from Mytalisha's Dream Riding Center, LLC and we are SO thankful for their help. With their help, Dr. Kristin and our staff were able to vet all but two horses in just over two hours with very little incident. 😯 The other two will need more handling before they are safe to be examined.

Sadly, we have to say goodbye to a few of the beautiful souls, but we also got way better news on some as well.

These guys have no idea who we are and we wanna thank everyone for keeping the energy mellow and handling them with care and understanding.
