A couple of weeks ago, our team got together for an amazing seminar led by our very own Emily, who brought her years of experience in pet care to the table! 🐶🐱 We dove deep into understanding dog and cat body language and focused on spotting signs of fear and stress in pets while their owners are away. 🍂 Fall Pet Safety Tips 🍂
As we fall into autumn, here are a few tips to keep your pets safe and happy this season:

Heat: Even in the fall, the heat can still be tough on our pets. Always test concrete with your hand to make sure it’s not too hot for their paws, and try to walk them early in the morning or later in the evening when it’s cooler. ☀️

Beware of Toxic Plants: Some fall plants like chrysanthemums and some wild mushrooms can be harmful to pets if ingested. Keep an eye on what they’re sniffing or chewing on during walks!

Halloween Hazards: Keep candy, especially chocolate and those with xylitol, out of paws’ reach.

Check for Ticks: Even as the weather changes, ticks are still active. They aren’t as common here, but they do exist! After outdoor adventures, give your pet a thorough check for these tiny pests. Staying up to date on prevention will also help and is very important!

She is currently studying Agricultural Science at Blinn College. While she’s not working, she enjoys fishing, training her Lab (Bosco), and doing anything outdoors! Howdy College Station!

We have gotten some Pet Alert window clings in and want to offer them to the community at no cost! If you would like to come by the fire administration office to get one, please reach out to our Community Outreach Specialist to arrange a pickup time!

Pet Alert clings can help alert first responders and those nearby that there are pets inside of your home in case of an emergency. Common placements are windows or glass doors, and can help increase the chances of your pets survival!
