I was able to overwinter a handful of dahlias, unassisted in formerly zone 6b, now 7a. These are the first varieties to put out blooms and boy are they gorgeous 😍 Roughly 40 plants made it through the winter and 10 of those are consistently putting out blooms, with the other 30 close behind. I also finished planting about 150 new tubers/young dahlia plants yesterday. I can’t wait to see all of the new varieties this year! I think it’s going to be a beautiful Fall flower season!

****IMPORTANT UPDATE****
Sad news:
The farm will be closed for the next two weekends, May 24-June 2. You may still message me and place orders, inquire about events, etc. I just won't be taking orders for pickup /delivery during this hiatus.
Glad news:
The Lilies and Lavender are all budded up and should be ready right around the time we open back up. My helper, Beau, is dying to try his hand at a fresh-squeezed lavender lemonade stand, so stay tuned 🪻🍋😃
AMAZING news:
I successfully overwintered a select number of Dahlias *insert gasp* that are also starting to bud up!!!! WOOHOO! Look for a few of these lovelies to start showing up in late spring/early summer bouquets!

Spring is officially here! 🌷 🌸 💐
I am currently collecting tons of beautiful specialty daffodils. Most people think of the standard yellow, single petal flowers when they hear the word daffodil, but I don’t grow any of those! I love the unique specialty varieties with their many ruffles and multitude of colors. I mean look at these lovelies 🥰
The tulips are also starting to slowly make an appearance and will be coming on in droves in no time at all!
Bouquet pick-ups will start this year on Saturday, March 30th (Easter weekend.) Much like last year, I will be taking pre-orders (you can PM me starting NOW!)

Summer break is officially here for this teacher/flower farmer/mama 🥳 That means that my schedule will be much more flexible for the next few months.
I often get messages that people don’t know how to place an order. If you want a bouquet, have an event coming up, or want to get on my subscription list for the Summer or Fall, send me a PM and I will be more than happy to help you out!
I do have a few trips planned this summer and will be closed for business during those times. I will announce those dates on this page as they arrive.

Subscriptions are available in the Standard and Premium sized market wrapped bouquets, and can be purchase in groups of 3.

Mother’s Day is one week away! We’ll be set up at The Old Herald Brewery next Saturday, May 13 from 11-3 for their pop-up market. We will be offering wrapped market bouquets, pre-made arrangements and gift certificates for Spring, Summer and/or Fall subscriptions. Come out and see us!

On a side note, I harvested the last of our late blooming daffodils this morning. These cluster daffs might just be my new favorites. I only tried out a handful for this season, but fell so hard that I just placed an order for a whole lot more for next year!

The stars of this week are literal stars! ⭐️🌟
Stars of Bethlehem only bloom for a week or two in early spring and 🤩 They are so delicate and lovely! I can’t wait for you all to enjoy them in this week’s mixed tulip bouquets!
In other exciting news, the first anemones and ranunculus are budding up and starting to bloom just in time for some cool weather, which they prefer! Also in bloom this week are the spirea and lilacs!

Tulip subscriptions are now available!
💐Locally grown, farm to table flowers💐
Starting this weekend, get 3 weeks of vibrant tulips mixed with other early Spring favorites. We grow an assortment of singles, doubles, parrots and fringe tulips that will all be part of your bouquet subscription. Depending on availability, they may be accompanied by fragrant heirloom narcissus, anemones, ranunculus (if the weather favors us) and anything else that happens to be blooming 😃
How it works:
Once you purchase your subscription, you will receive a list of available pickup/delivery dates. You select your 3 dates and preference on delivery vs. pickup. Each weekend I will send out reminders to those that selected that pickup day along with care instructions.
There are two available subscription sizes:
Standard Market Bouquet subscription: $75
Premium Market Bouquet subscription: $100
*Delivery within a 15 mile radius upon request for an additional $15

I went out to the tulip beds this morning to see if a few more were ready to be pulled and was pleasantly surprised! They are coming on strong now 💪

Fun facts about cut flower tulips:
~Did you know that when harvesting tulips for cut flowers, we pull the tulip with the bulb still attached? This allows us to dry store tulips in the cooler for up to 4 weeks! The bulb continues to provide food and energy to the tulip! But yes, that means that I purchase thousands of new bulbs each and every year.
~Did you know that when harvesting tulips we want to pull single varieties just as their color starts to peak through at the very tip of their closed buds (known as the color crack stage) and doubles just as their buds start to loosen and they feel soft when pinched (known as the marshmallow stage.) This helps us get the longest vase life possible out of our tulips! I often have people tell me that they bet the beds are beautiful. In reality, if I let the tulips color up and open in the field, they are of no use to me in bouquets, as they would fade and die within a day or two!
~Did you know that when planting bulbs in the Fall, we plant them as close together as we can get them without touching each other? Think of an egg carton and then multiply that by thousands! This forces our tulips to grow up instead of out, which gives us the best stem length possible!

You guys…The tulips are coming!
The time we have all been waiting for is finally here. The tulips are coming out of the field slowly right now, but I suspect by weeks end to have several buckets full!
This means that I will be able to fill a limited number of Easter orders for this upcoming weekend 🐣 💐
Because I am not sure exactly the quantity of stems I will have by weeks end, I will be assigning a number to each order and will reach out to confirm the order once I pull enough stems to complete it. My last harvest will be on Friday afternoon so I will know for certain by then.
Market wrapped bouquets are available in two sizes:

Standard-$25
Porch pickup will take place on Saturday Morning from 9am-noon. Deliveries are also available with an added charge ($5 per address within a 15 mile radius.)

When single tulips are pulled, they are in what is referred to as, “the color crack stage” and sometimes go into bouquets shortly thereafter. This is done to ensure that your tulips have the longest vase life possible. They will continue to color up and lengthen in the vase!
