Trails End Feist Kennel is in final process of rehoming our remaining brood stock. Championship bloodlines that have been proven to produce quality squirrel dogs. Running the kennel has been a labor of love and will end same way. These dogs are UFD and must be rehomed asap.

We had 2 unexpected, and not wanted with all health problems I'm having. The positive is we had opportunity to have another juvenile drawing to give puppies away. Mission accomplished except for male runt of litters. They came from my good friend Wade who recently past from heart failure. I decided to keep the little guy no one wanted and promply named him Wade. They were born first week of August. Wade is typical puppy. Just big enough to get into anything and everything. Is a full time job raising him.
Today was different. Mr Wade did something besides pee/poop after being let out. Or chew up something. Was in basement and barking constantly.Curiousty finally got better of me and I went to see what he was so excited about. He was treeing!!
Okay, it was flies buzzing in backdoor window but he was barking every breath. I dug my phone out my pants pocket to get proof I have a 2.5 month old treeing. The predictable happened. He quit. Ran to me to chew on my ankle. No amount of coaxing would get him to do a repeat performance. I'd seen him snap at buzzing fly. Guess he hates them bad as I do. Another of God's bugs that serve a purpose.

I wonder what purpose a mosquito serves?

Checked the books. Its official. Worse year Trails End ever had.
You know its is Bad when you can't give puppies away!
Know it not the dogs. Have had nothing but positive reports from new owners and some repeat customers. Has be economy or lack of squirrels last couple years. Either way still have dogs going to seed in kennel because I can no longer hunt way required to keep a dog in full hunting form or get young started.
Hoping leaves falling will have positive effect?
I've rehomed my finished dogs. Brood stock and few puppies all that is left.
A thankyou to those who purchased a dog recently. If, or not, please comment and let me know how they are doing.

Don't know what it is or about me but I've always been good with dogs. Dog Whisperer?
I once talked down a female with pups I happen walk up on that. She was on verge of Attack. By time owner got out house I was petting her. He was amazed. Kept her chained when he wasn't home. Anyway....
Local
lady bought a puppy from me few years back and I had take comfort in one she picked. Bought it for grandson as companion not to hunt. As it was I had a timid little female in a litter I was worried about. She was just overly shy and skittish. I was thankful with her choice but voiced my concerns and her reply was.."So just like my grandson. She's perfect."
( yeah, right) I thought.

Well I happen to run into her in town and she recognized me. Spoke to me and puppy came up. She started with...
"You wouldn't believe those two"...
Apparently both had come out their shell and now spent every chance they got in nearby patch woods.
" Treeing squirrels?"
I had to ask.
"Chases. Running up trees.
Precious can slip up and catch them on ground. She, smart..and loves that boy!"
All I could say was I was glad for both them.
Been breeding Feist for sometime now and was No way I'd picked that puppy. Just goes show you never know as much as you think you do.
Now I question...
Would that shy, skiddish pup turned out that way with anyone else?

Has been difficult for myself and Trails End this year. A medical diagnosis that no one wants to hear. Hard decisions had be made and this years litters already on way. I don't know if bad economy or lack of squirrels last season but I was carrying over way too many young started dogs from year before. Every pen full and phone stops ringing.
Always give puppies to juvinile hunters every year and this year we got to put a lot of smiles on kids faces.
For first time we put brood stock UFC. Reading back through our post you can see how many dogs we've managed to rehome. Still have total of 16 in kennel. Five of which are puppies.
My main concern is the dogs. $ wasn't why I opened Trails End. It was to keep an old man active and involved with hunting canines that gave me the fever as a kid. A way to give back to what has giving me so much pleasure over the years.
If you are considering a Feist for companion or hunting I ask you contact me. I need to know my dogs all have a good home.

She didn't know her name had been drawn in our juvenile drawing. Dad hadn't told her sparing the disappointment if her name wasn't drawn.
Once here and told she spent several minutes sitting in kennel pen being attacked by five excited puppies three of which were available for her to choose from. Dad and I talked as she petted, picked up, and played with the frisky mob. I watched her face with thankful pride in her excitement. She took her time and when she stood up with her choice.
" I want this one." A wide grin on her face and excitement visible in her eyes. I thought " Lucky puppy"
and shared in her happiness tucking away another memory.
Thankful I was able to share the moment with her.

I've often said our juvenile drawing is my favorite promotion. It is. Yet In every contest there are winners and losers. It's thoughts of the disappointed that often haunt me. I sincerely wish I could give a puppy to everyone who enters. The list is it. Five names.

Another Trails End puppy going to his new home with a smiling youngster. Out of all the things we do here at Trails End to promote the Feist breed our juvenile giveaway is by far my favorite event. The grin on a child's face while holding a wiggling puppy is priceless.

Last year everyone wanted a male puppy. Ended up with six young females to get going. Some in training pen now treeing feeder squirrels. This year, everyone wanted a female. We have four males available out of proven cross up for consideration. There are five males in video but one of the bnt is spoken for and will be picked up. Early morning romp.

Supposed to be good day weatherwise so decided to give puppies a day in playpen. Those with collars are spoken for but still have a good selection and not a shy one in the bunch. Must admit I am surprised that the white with brown markings haven't been chosen. Usually they are first to be spoken for. Is a male and a female. The male extremely vocal. I'm getting excited about our juvenile drawing on the 28th. Hoping to have both male and female available. If you haven't entered it's simple. Just submit your name to the Trails End Feist Kennel face book page. We will give a puppy away. If winner is unable to pick puppy up for whatever reason we will draw until a puppy of their choice is given away. Had a great response this year.

Reminding everyone of our annual juvenile drawing for a registered Feist puppy. Here at Trails End Feist Kennel is my favorite promotion.
