Here's a short clip of one of my RBTA's (rainbow bubbletip anemones) dancing in the flow with my black snowflake oscellaris clownfish playing in it's tentacles.
As many of you know clownfish have a fairly unique symbiotic relationship with anemones. The anemone provides protection for the clownfish and in turn the clownfish will help to feed the anemone, keep them clean, and protect the anemone if necessary. I can't tell you how many times I get bit by my clownfish while working on there aquarium.
Did you know that clownfish don't just host anemones! They can host multiple species of corals that probably shouldn't be hosted. Reason being that most corals arent built to be hosted by boisterous little clownfish. They can also host inert objects such as overflow boxes and other equipment in the tank. Often times this happens when an anemone isn't available, but can happen at any time. It's theorized that since we mainly keep captive bred clownfish that have been bred for multiple generations, they no longer recognize anemones instinctively but still have an instinct to host something. I used to have a clownfish that hosted my overflow box as well as my red montipora, neither of which look anything like an anemone in my opinion.
