LionHeart Riding Academy

LionHeart Riding Academy Building courage, strength, and confidence in our riders through strong relationships with people and horses.

At LionHeart Riding Academy, we teach riders ages 4 years and up to ride on American Saddlebred horses. We ride Saddle Seat, which is a form of English riding. We encourage riders of all ability levels, no matter what their goals may be. Many of our riders participate in horse shows at a local, regional, and even national level, but this is by no means required.

We will have lessons this afternoon in spite of the heat, though we will keep things low key to avoid over stressing animals or riders. If you’d like to reschedule, please put your request on the sheet by 3:00.

We will also plan to have lessons on Tuesday- if you’d like to reschedule, please do so with the usual 24 hours notice to be eligible for a makeup.

Spring break is coming up: March, March 25-29.

We will be doing some fun Spring Break "Camp" days - please see the schedule below. Camps are $75/day.

Monday March 25: Regular lessons, good afternoon for make-ups

Tuesday, March 26: Trip to Mexico, MO to see the American Saddlebred Museum and Historic Simmons Stables

Weds, March 27: Tour of Central MO Training Barns such as Aponte Stables, Fairview Farm, and Virgil Helm Stables

Thurs, March 28: Vet Med Day - Tour of Equine Medical Services Clinic - learn about common illnesses and injuries, breeding, and more! (Warning that conversations about horse reproduction will be honest and scientific.)

Friday, March 29: Pattern Day - Learn how to read a pattern, memorization, what is allowed and what's not, etc.

We’re dipping down into single digits again so lessons for this afternoon (Friday) and tomorrow are canceled.

Scenes from The Great Freezation of 2024… Everyone is doing well around here- got some big cases of cabin fever, Smitty the Kitty most of all. We only have one solidly frozen outdoor waterer, and it’s in a paddock that no one is in at the moment. No frozen pipes in the tack room. So all things considered, we’re winning! So far. 😬🥶❤️💙💛

Saturday lessons at LionHeart are canceled this week due to extreme cold and a seriously icy crossing from the barn to the arena. Monday and Tuesday lessons will most likely be canceled as well, unless there’s a major change to the forecast. If you’d be willing to come out for 30-60 minutes to help with chores in the morning or evening, we’d be happy to have you- the barn is staying nice and warm! Otherwise, stay warm and cozy and drink some hot chocolate for us!

We also have a Drill Team, which performs choreographed routines set to music- this gives those who aren’t interested in showing another option to work towards. We do many camps, as well as private and group riding lessons. We look forward to hearing from you!
