And this is why I love what I do! Bella not only learned manners, but is now able to assist her Mom on safe walks, and is able to help her Mom get up should she fall, or just need a little extra help!
"We had gotten Bella a little over a year ago. A couple of months later I had ankle surgery. Towards the end of my recovery, I ended up with a pulling injury on my ankle due to Bella.
My relationship with this dog has been one of fear. Afraid of getting hurt. I have not been able to handle, let alone bond with Bella. As time went by she got bigger and developed some difficult behavior issues, like dog reactivity. I became very aware that we may need to rehome her for my safety. I felt I had failed Bella. Here I am, with all these years of veterinary experience and I can’t train my own dog. I am physically unable.
That’s where Dara Fox with Positive Changes comes in. Dara has been a very dear friend to me and my family for many years. I quickly realized after meeting her that she was extremely passionate about animals. She is very knowledgeable and educated, provided high level nursing care as a Registered Veterinary Technician, and now doing something she loves full time. Changing the lives of owners and their pets through Positive Changes.
Dara trained Bella at her home for two weeks.
Today, I walked Bella. Last night, I walked Bella. Here I am, with Dara, walking Bella ONE HOUR after she came home. Around the block with all of the distractions possible, such as people, cars, kids on bikes and DOGS but I was able to walk her, at my own pace. I felt safe and for the first time in almost a year I felt hope that we can form a bond that will be life changing.
Dara’s dedication to training my hard-headed Pyrenees has already changed my life. She even trained her to help me up off the ground. This brought tears of joy. Never had I thought Bella would be able to do “work” for me in a positive way. Gave me hope for our future as well
This tiny lady is Piggly Wiggly! She was rescued from a local shelter by a wonderful couple, after being found as a stray. Per Piggly's DNA test, she is 100% pitbull, despite her tiny size. She has several medical conditions, and dwarfism is one of them. She does not handle walks very well, and is very uncomfortable in a "down" position, so in order to keep her little mind busy, we got creative! We are doing exercises to strengthen her core muscles, lots of nose work, and puzzles, and during this session, she mastered a little A-frame! She has the biggest personality, and loves being cheered for!! The Dog Stop
Basic obedience 1, class 6/6, and look how nice these puppies walk in the heel position! No reactivity, no barking, and no pulling. Now they can spend the upcoming fall season enjoying walks with their people!
Sometimes you just have to brag....Eva is not quite 9 months old, and is just a handful of a pup, but has mastered her obedience training, and her "place" command! I am so pleased with her progress, and how confident she has become! Way to go Eva!🥰
Baxter working on confidence building! This was my 3rd visit with him, and I finally got to watch him come out of his shell, wag his tail, and he even got in my lap for some cuddle time! This makes it all worth it!
Baxter working on the sushi puzzle! Who says training can't be fun!
More of my favorite "place" command, with Layne, a 2 year old Labradoodle. Layne was one of my first puppies to complete training, here in Hilliard. I worked with Layne over a year ago, and recently went for a visit. Her Mom has done an excellent job keeping up on her training! When you train, without pain, and build a bond with your pup's, like I do, they are always happy to see you, no matter how much time has passed. So proud of this sweet girl! She went from a crazy little puppy, to a confident, well behaved dog!
A confident puppy, is a happy puppy! At Positive Changes, we play just as hard as we train! This is 5 month old Dixie, learning to use her nose, and mind, while gaining confidence!
Not the best video, as it is hard to walk, and video a pup in a heel position, at the same time! Some of my clients work long hours, want to keep up on their training, but also don't want someone to take their pup for 2 weeks, not knowing exactly what's happening while they're gone. I offer walk and train sessions to help out. I stop in mid day, and do a 45 min walk. While getting excercized, the pup also gets some obedience training in, and the owner comes home to a happy, tired puppy! In this video, Onyx, a 5 month old Lab/German Shepherd cross is learning heel, with an automatic sit, as well as "quiet", because this happy girl wants to "talk" to every person and dog she sees! Taking your dog on a walk should be an enjoyable, bonding time, for both owner, and dog. A little bit of leash manners, goes a long way, in making that happen!
