**Free Canine Search and Rescue, Lost Pet, and Human Tracking Concepts**
Sunday Jan 19, Keisel park 3pm CST

As a kid, I spent hours in the woods playing hide-and-seek with my dogs, not knowing that one day it would lead me to a career in search and rescue training. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of learning alongside Marine Special Forces dog trainers and honing my skills under the guidance of the Navy SEALs’ head dog trainer. This journey has given me a deep appreciation for the life-saving potential of tracking and detection work.

We’re excited to offer *free* introductory lessons on the concepts of tracking and search and rescue to our community. These skills can make a real difference in helping friends, family, and neighbors during challenging times, such as finding a lost loved one or pet. While others may charge for this knowledge, we’re committed to ensuring it’s accessible to anyone interested. Dogs must be vetted and friendly to participate—join us to learn how you and your dog can become an invaluable resource in your community!

Hello, my name is Lisa, and I am a dedicated Critical Care Army Nurse with 16 years of service in the Army. Throughout my military career, I have had the privilege of caring for countless individuals in their most vulnerable moments. Now, as I prepare for my medical retirement due to various health challenges, I am turning to a new ally in my journey—my 8-month-old German Shepherd puppy, Ayla.

Ayla is not just a pet; she is a beacon of hope and companionship as I navigate the complexities of my medical conditions. Together, we are embarking on a mission to train her as a service dog, equipped to assist me with my specific needs. This training will provide me with the support I require to regain independence and improve my quality of life.

Your generous contributions will directly support Ayla's specialized training, ensuring that she can become the service dog I need. With your help, we can turn our dream into reality—transforming Ayla into a certified service dog who will stand by my side as I face the future.

Thank you for your kindness and support as we embark on this journey together!

🎯 Red Light, Green Light: Making Odor Detection Valuable and Fun! 🚦

Welcome to *Red Light, Green Light*—a social odor detection concept designed to make learning odor recognition exciting and rewarding! This isn’t about building search patterns; it’s about creating value around the odors we want to find and having fun while doing it.

Here’s how it works:
🛑 **Red Light** – I freeze in place until someone touches or observes the target odor. Everyone has a chance to learn from one another during this pause.

🟢 **Green Light** – If someone chooses to follow their nose instead of me, they can earn a reward for trusting their instincts and recognizing the target odor!

This concept encourages teamwork, independence, and building a connection with the value of scent. It’s a game where everyone learns and grows together, creating a more engaging and enjoyable training environment.

Let’s make finding the odor a rewarding and memorable experience for all! 🌟🐾

🚨 Cold Weather Alert: Protect Your Pets and Livestock! 🚨

As temperatures drop, please remember to take extra precautions to ensure the safety and comfort of your animals:

For Pets:
- **Bring Pets Indoors:** Dogs, cats, and other small animals should be kept indoors. Prolonged exposure to freezing temperatures can lead to hypothermia or frostbite.

**Provide Warm Shelter:** If livestock must stay outside, ensure they have a sturdy, insulated shelter with plenty of dry bedding like straw or blankets. The shelter's opening should face away from the wind.

- **Check Water Bowls:** Make sure their water bowls don’t freeze. Use heated water bowls or check regularly to provide fresh, unfrozen water.
- **Limit Outdoor Time:** Walks and outdoor activities should be brief during extreme cold.

**For Livestock:**
- **Shelter and Windbreaks:** Provide windbreaks or enclosed barns to shield animals from the cold and wind.
- **Dry Bedding:** Ensure livestock have plenty of dry bedding to lie on, which helps them conserve heat.
- **Unfrozen Water Supply:** Use tank heaters or regularly break ice to provide access to fresh water.
- **Extra Feed:** Animals require more energy to stay warm in winter, so increase their feed during cold weather.

Cold weather can be dangerous for animals if the proper precautions aren't taken. Let’s work together to keep them safe this winter!

**Stay safe, and thank you for caring for your animals!**

🚨 **Attention Pet Parents!** 🚨
A potentially severe snowstorm is forecasted to impact areas like Atlanta, Georgia, on **January 8th-9th**, with significant snowfall and freezing temperatures expected. While this may be exciting for some, it poses serious risks to our furry friends.

🌨️ **What This Means for Pets:**
- **Freezing Temperatures:** Prolonged exposure can lead to frostbite or hypothermia, especially for pets that are primarily outdoor animals.
- **Hazardous Roads:** If you need to travel with your pet, road conditions may be dangerous.
- **Limited Access to Resources:** Snow and ice may disrupt access to food, water, and emergency services.

🐾 **How to Keep Your Pets Safe:**
1. **Limit Outdoor Time:** Keep walks short and ensure your pets have warm shelter.
2. **Paw Protection:** Ice, snow, and road salt can irritate paw pads. Use pet-safe booties or wash their paws after being outside.
3. **Warm Shelter:** Bring pets inside. Ensure their sleeping areas are warm, dry, and away from drafts.
4. **Stock Up on Supplies:** Have enough pet food, medications, and clean water for at least a week.
5. **Be Visible:** If you walk your dog during low visibility, use reflective gear and a sturdy leash.
6. **Watch for Signs of Cold Stress:** Shivering, lethargy, or disorientation are signs of hypothermia. Seek veterinary care immediately if noticed.

📢 **Spread the Word:** Share this post to help fellow pet parents prepare for the storm. Let’s keep our furry companions safe, warm, and healthy! 🐶🐱

**A Hero in Fur: Carlo the Service Dog Saves His Dad's Life**

Carlo, one of our extraordinary service dogs, proved just how life-saving these animals can be. One unforgettable night, Carlo's dad, John Henry Allen , experienced a medical emergency. Unable to wake him, Carlo sprang into action, opening the front door and running to wake the neighbor at 3 a.m. The neighbor quickly called EMS, who arrived just in time to save John's life.

This story is a testament to the unmatched abilities and instincts of service dogs like Carlo. We’re so grateful to have Carlo and John in our family, and we love them both dearly.

Make sure you reach out to John for custom data, tumblers, and really anything!
