Robin's Nest Reptiles

Robin's Nest Reptiles Here at Robin's Nest Reptiles, we believe in breeding to improve the mutations that we are working with, not just breeding for the sake of breeding.

Selective breeding is the only choice for us!

The first clutch of 2013 is now in the incubator. Lemon pastel to lesser male.

The clown clutch was the last clutch of the 2012 season. Been pairing already for 2013 and excited about this coming season!

Brothers from the same clutch. Interesting that one is so much more reduced.

To all my reptile related friends, especially those of you new to reptiles, there's a new "auction" site called Ballbids.com. Run by Zack Byers and his friend Avi. This is nothing more than a gambling site. they way that it works, you buy the right to bid by buying a group of bids and then use your bids at $.55 a bid and higher for each bid. The price of the animal goes up a penny each time you bid.

Let's say that an animal sells for $6.00, that's 600 bids at $.55 a bid (or higher) and everyone that loses the bid actually pays for the snake. Last night, one person won all four auctions.

Zack and his partner have banned myself and many others for asking legitimate questions. This is brilliant in that their FB page only contains supporter, and deceiving new people that there are no concerns about the page.

Watch their site. There are more critics since last night, and they likely will be banned and their comments also removed. Why? Because this is a business that doesn't stand up to real scrutiny. They have admitted to no quarantine practices, they've changed their TOS several times, and they've already had auctions that have failed. They've had friends win their auctions.

Save the money that you would be tempted to spend to buy in bids, and use it towards buying the animal you want from a reputable breeder.

Since they've banned me, and I have more friends than they have fans right now, I'll put the word out using my own FB page. I'll reach more people this way anyway.

Paired up a few snakes Tuesday night ahead of the cold front. Everyone gave two tails up for their date cards. ;-)

I've come to the point that I have to thin out my collection in order to take it in the direction I want it to go. Reluctantly, I decided several weeks ago to let some of my favorite normal girls go. And only because I had a buyer that I really, really like and is trying to build up a nice collection, the same way that I did - slowly, and with a deliberate eye towards nice normals. While on one hand, I'm sad to let my babies go, I'm also getting excited for the extra room for my morph females.

Republicans on the House Natural Resources Committee seem never to be at a loss for words when it comes to Democratic initiatives. This week the GOP members are shaking their heads over Interior Secretary Ken Salazar's efforts to get a grip on invasive snakes invading national parks in Florida.

Repticon Atlanta is in town this weekend! We're looking forward to volunteering at the USARK table on Saturday and doing what we can to help. We're also looking forward to seeing great local friends. Why is it we only seem to get together for reptile shows when we live so close to each other? Definitely will need to remedy this! Hope everyone has a safe weekend!

Hi everyone! Hope you're having a good evening! Share your lock pictures with us! What clutches are you most looking forward to? Next year will be more exciting here at the Nest - I'll be able to start producing some combos! This year we're producing spiders, mojaves, lemon pastels and doing a dinker project. Nothing really exciting - but ANY healthy baby coming out of the egg is exciting here!

How is everyone's breeding season going so far - post what you're working with this year!

We have a thunderstorm rolling in today. Paired up snakes last night and 3 of 4 were locked within an hour of me turning the lights out. All three of those males are experienced breeders who just get the job done. The fourth male, my spider Tonka, is on his very first date, so he's a little shy. Hopefully when I get home and the rain is coming down, he'll have figured things out!

Not snake related - but I am beyond thrilled that the great people of Mass sent a clear message to Washington tonight that We The People will not go quietly! Congratulations America! Thank you Mass!
