This is what $700 looks like at the farrier store. Less than 15 pairs of shoes, some pour in packs a box of nails… not even rasps this time which are pushing $40 each. I made this a light trip for essentials only for the next week and will have to go back again in a week for more. I usually don’t spend less than $600 and many times it’s over a thousand. Every other week about. That’s why prices are what they are.

Another great farrier making great points

Sundays are for Farrier Maintenance.

Elbows, hands, and shoulders really take a beating during the summer months. Taking time to red light, BEMER, and rest is just some of the few things we do on our days off to be able to service the horses in our care the best we can.

We also stay on schedule with our human bodyworkers such as a massage therapist, physio, and chiro to help stay on top of my own compensation patterns from everyday work.

This is also why as a business we have scheduled days off, and try very hard to stick to them. Being able to rest and recover hopefully allows us to service our clients for a very long time.

It also helps us not burnout mentally. Which is very easy to do during the busy months of summer.

We don’t cancel unless we REALLY have to.
I can bring a fan or blower for myself buy need to be able to plug it in.

This is a good reminder, even if your farrier isn’t me it’s a hard job. Please be considerate

I wanted to post for those who had an appointment today. We did NOT forget about you. I will be reaching out to reschedule asap and will move things around to get you all in promptly this week. We had an emergency this morning with Chris and Hannah's new foal. I apologize greatly for the lack of communication and for anyone who kindly waited on chris to arrive, please forgive me. I will be reaching out Within the next hour.
Thank you and kind regards,
Whitney chris' secretary

Friendly reminder everyone, we have trimming rules in place for a reason. It is best for your horses overall hoof health, chris' time, chris' tools, and chris' body.

That being said, during spring/summer trims are 4-6 weeks max because the hooves grow faster, and during the colder months it is 6-8 weeks max because they grow slower.

Any longer than this could result in being dropped as a client expecially if you're consecutively going past the max cut off time frames. ( if there is ANY issue please reach out to me to discuss!!!!)

Now to the bigger issue at hand. Chris and I work closely together. I discuss everything with him as he does with me when it comes to your beloved horses and we only want what is best for them. Every one has the same guidelines and rules. Disrespect of any kind towards Chris or his assistant Whitney will NOT be tolerated and you will be dropped immediately.

If there are any scheduling issues, emergencies, issues with the horse in general that may effect trimming/shoeing please do not hesitate to reach out to me at:
(614) 927-7907.

Kind regards,
Chris' assistant Whitney Stapleton

In the dim twilight's embrace, I wait,
By the hearth's warm glow, my heart's weight,
For the sound of his weary tread,
As dusk descends

A farrier's wife, I've grown accustomed to fear,
Each day he ventures, his path unclear,
Amongst the steeds, with hooves of might,
And fiery souls that dance in the night.

Oh, how I long for his safe return,
With each passing hour, my concern does churn,
For the anvil's clang and the forge's heat,
Are his constant companions, his fate to meet.

Through the counties he roams, with hammer in hand,
A blacksmith of souls, in a foreign land,
Yet my heart clings tight to his fleeting form,
As the shadows lengthen, and the night grows long.

I plead with the owners, of horses strong,
To temper their beasts, to right their wrongs,
For each kick and each bolt, is a dagger's thrust,
To the heart of my love, in whom I trust.

Oh, ye noble steeds, with eyes so wild,
Heed my plea, let not anger be your child,
For the farrier's hands, though skilled and sure,
Are but mortal flesh, fragile and pure.

And so, I sit by the hearth's warm light,
Praying for dawn, to end this night,
With trembling hands and bated breath,
I await the return of life

For my farrier, my love, my guiding star,
I beseech thee, horse owners near and far,
Tame your steeds, let peace reign supreme,
So my husband may return, from his daily dream.

In the quiet of the night, my prayers take flight,
To watch over him
For a farrier's wife knows all too well,
The toll of the forge, the stories it tells.

Very thankful to Whitney for her hard work.
Despite technology, I still have to have someone keep track of the system and reach out to folks when needed.

This has streamlined my day so much and had my miss far fewer clients.
I have very limited openings this next week and then am gone until March 8.
We are booking 6-8 weeks out for many clients already.

Please get booked as soon as you can, reach out to Whitney with any issues at our business number listed on the page, or through here.
We will get back to you within 48 hours.

Some clients cannot wait for my availability and I understand that, part of this process was getting my workload back to a manageable level.
Again, I appreciate Whitney and know a majority of my clients due as well, for helping streamline this process.

Huge HUGE!!!! Shout out to GE Forge & Tool Inc for my new set of nippers! Unfortunately the ones I was using snapped on me, which was sad cause they were by far the best pair of nippers I’ve ever had. However, as soon they were made aware of the situation through a Facebook comment thread, crazy enough, and they sent a new pair right away with by far the best customer service you could imagine. Will always get my tools from GE when available (they sell out a lot). I can’t wait to use these new ones and have a new favorite pair of nippers! Thanks again GE!
