The mysteries of Coexisting with Cougars, Coyotes, Bears in our backyard on Monumental Mountain; can be one of the most beautiful things to witness. Living out of town has been much safer than living close to the city. We chose to live in there sanctuary, we hold the upmost respect for them. Only about 125 human-lion “conflicts” in a year in North America have been reported. That might sound like a lot until you consider that the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reports 4.7 million dog bites. Over the last 17 years we have lived here we have never had an issue with cougars, coyotes, bears or snakes. We have ran in to them taking out the trash and on hikes on our land or our surroundings; they are more scared of us. We aren’t afraid of them. No reason to be. We raised 2 younger children running up and down our hills all year long and we have heard there stories, but we choose not to live in fear with memories of our surrounding. We love where we live and wouldn’t have it any other way. Preserve, protect.
