🦷🪥This week, one of our patients came in for a routine dental cleaning. While under anesthesia, we took full mouth X-rays and found an impacted tooth. An impacted tooth occurs when a tooth does not erupt properly or is blocked from coming through the gum line. This can lead to discomfort, pain, swelling and even develop cysts or abcesses which can affect the health of the entire mouth and even spread to other parts of the body.
This pup had not yet displayed any signs of pain or discomfort, however had we not caught it and extracted today, it very well could have in the future.
Full mouth dental radiographs are necessary to detect issues that we can't see by just performing an oral exam. Be proactive with your pet's dental health! They will thank you for it 💖
