FYI - this is every golden retriever ever. Yes, your dog behaves this way. Grooming goldens is physically and emotionally exhausting. They love hard, but they say no harder.

Anyone interested in a 5 year old doodle who needs a new home?

All information is below:

◦ Loves walks
◦ Loves to be around people, very affectionate
◦ Best greeter when you get home
◦ Very excited to greet guests but will sit on rug
◦ Spins in circles when excited or wants to play
◦ Likes to play with some dogs at Club Pet
◦ Loves car rides
◦ Mostly sits in car seat in front
◦ Pretty good with little kids- gives clear signals when wants to be left alone (turns head, walks away)
◦ Loves to go to bed at night- likes to sleep on bed
◦ Great at going in crate when we leave - we say ‘Crate, Charlie’ and he runs to it for mini greenie treat
◦ Very gentle eater- eats 2 cups daily
◦ Very treat motivated
◦ Very patient
◦ Loves to be on couches
◦ Loves to play with toys with you

Quirks:
◦ Sits backwards in car if in back seat
◦ Scared of Fireworks, Loud noises,
◦ Wrapping paper rolls
◦ Can be unpredictable with dogs- playing one min, go after them next- dominance issue with some
◦ Doesn’t love bones- little front bottom teeth
◦ He was trained to go in pen on side of house (but got zapped so afraid of it now)
◦ Doesn’t know what to do if you leave and he’s out of crate so always in crate when we leave

Loves:
◦ Cheese
◦ Meat
◦ Ice cream
◦ To beg -Our fault!

Health:
◦ Was neutered at 2yrs
◦ Sometimes a little discharge- doc says normal
◦ Marks in house where other dog was - doc says late neuter causes residual testosterone which can cause territorial issues like this and dominating other dogs
◦ Bc he doesn’t chew on bones his teeth get dirty

PSA - WINDOW AIR CONDITIONER UNITS & DOGS

It felt like the longest 2 hours of my life when this guy went missing while we were at the movies. He blasted right through the accordion part of the window unit and had himself a Homeward Bound trip of sorts - running from rescuers, swimming, rolling in dead raccoon, riding in a police cruiser . . .

When I moved in here my dad went around my back yard and secured every possible spot a small dog could eek out so that I could rest easy. I never imagined that inside my home, dogs were not secure. Looking for a solution now, but praising God for His mercy on this pup (& me!) that was entrusted to my care.

Also thankful that my sweet girl, Lydia Joy not only spearheaded the search for him, but then also drove this wreck of a being to pick up his smelly self.

What could be involved in grooming Boxers you ask?
- happy scratches
- lots of bouncing
- wet wi***es
- eyeball licks
- wiggle butts
- more bouncing
- drinking ALL the water, the shampoo water, the conditioner water, if it's spraying they're drinking it
- ridiculously cute faces

And the bonus is that you also get groomed 🤦🏼‍♀️🤷‍♀️🤣

I've never posted this guy before. This is Rand. A lot of people don't want their doodle poodled, but Rand's people like him short and all one length.

To be honest, it bothered me at first. His hair is SO beautiful. But Rand is a nervous Nelly. He comes in shaking, takes a while to calm down and has experienced a dryer seizure before (panic attack brought on by the stress of the dryer).

Last time Rand came in he was hims usual ball of nerves. But he calmed down quickly. He jumped in the tub by himself. Then he jumped on the table by himself. He happily took treats. And then he was out the door in no time.

Because they keep him short it minimizes his bath time and especially his time with the dryer. It sets him up for total success.

Just a reminder, I am only a groomer, not a magician.

Remember when your mom would get upset if you used the good sewing scissors to cut paper or some nonsense? It would dull the scissors! She needed those scissors sharp to do their job slicing with ease through fabric.

There's a reason that fabric shears are expensive. There's a reason that dog grooming shears are expensive (hairdresser's shears are beyond expensive!).

When you use your kitchen or paper scissors to chop out a mat, this is the result. The hair is damaged and I can't even blend it in with good shears. To even it out I would need to shave the rest of the dog down to where this cut was made - shorter than what client wanted. So, your dog leaves my shop, with a chop job I didn't do, but a groom that has my name on it.

Please don't cut mats out. Please.don't.do.it.

I was relieved to be home after vacation (Alexander and the terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day anyone?), and had no idea how much I needed to groom until I was done with Charlie. My heart was so full. Look at him all blown out! I contemplated asking if we could have a sleepover so I could use him as a pillow.
