Just like that 2025 is over!

December was filled with wonderful donors helping us fill beneath our Christmas tree with much needed donations. 18 lucky animals went home including-

🐶 Paisley, Patches, Smokey, Thor , Hanky Spanky & Daisy

🐱Gizmo, Kitty, Snowball, Tostada, Bruce, Nina, Nico, Jack, Sandy, Pearl & Liam

🐹 Our ferret Olaf also found his forever home!

🎉In 2025, we found homes for 2 Guinea pigs, 2 ferrets, a rabbit, 91 dogs and 166 cats!!

This months spotlight is another senior cat patiently waiting for her forever home. Mischief is 13 years old but is still FULL of it! She’s often found playing and enjoying her time in our community cat room.

Nancy Wheeler would like you all to share her photo! 🐈‍⬛

She came to us as a stray and is now looking for her forever people. She is FIV+ so she will need to be kept strictly indoors. It’s important to bring her to the vet for annual wellness exams to keep her feeling tip top. She needs a home without other cats, or with other FIV+ friends.

Baby is always the life of the party! This girl is the SWEETEST. The only thing she loves more than zooming around with her toys, is spending time with her people. Belly rubs, butt scratches- you name it. Her New Year's resolution is to find her forever home.❤

Our Story

Our Board, Staff, and Volunteers care deeply about the animals that come through our shelter. We take great satisfaction in being part of this important nonprofit located here in the White Mountains Valley Region.

CAHS began its work in 2003 with one building that was serving to rescue and adopt cats. We started our dog kennels in the following year 2004. CAHS has steadily grown in its capacity and services over the years.

CAHS takes in animals that have been owner surrendered, strays, confiscated by law enforcement, transported from other parts of the country due to overpopulation, or natural disaster incidents. CAHS serves the following local towns; Albany, Bartlett, Berlin, Conway, Chatham, Chocorua, Eaton, Freedom, Glen, Gorham, Intervale, Jackson, Kearsarge, Madison, Milan, Shelburne, and Silver Lake. We strive to rescue, shelter and protect, and adopt out as many animals as we can. CAHS rescues and adopts out hundreds of animals per year.
