I saw a similar illustration showing how the feet rest in a wire cage years ago and I have been searching ever since. Thank you to Lucy's Lops for such a well worded description on how wire bottom can actually be beneficial and more sterile when used properly

🌬️ Keeping Your Rabbits Cool in the Heat ☀️🐰

Summer is here, and that means it’s time to get serious about heat safety in your Rabbitry. Rabbits don’t handle heat well—temps over 80°F (27°C) can quickly lead to heat stress or even heatstroke. Here’s how to keep your bunnies cool, calm, and comfy all season long:

🐇 1. Shade is Essential
Make sure your hutches and cages are out of direct sun. Use shade cloths, tarps, or even plant natural barriers like sunflowers or vines for extra coverage.

❄️ 2. Frozen Water Bottles
A classic trick: freeze 2-liter bottles or jugs of water and place them in the cages. Rabbits will snuggle up against them to cool down. Just be sure the bottles are clean and swapped out daily.

💨 3. Airflow is Key
If your Rabbitry is indoors or in a barn, install fans to keep air moving. Outdoors? Position hutches to catch breezes or use battery/solar-powered fans safely out of nibbling range.

🚿 4. Cool Flooring
Tiles, bricks, or slabs in resting areas can provide a cool surface to lie on—especially if lightly misted or kept in the shade.

💦 5. Hydration, Always
Check water bottles and crocks frequently. Rabbits drink more in the heat, and bottles can clog. Add ice cubes to the water or offer juicy treats like cucumber or watermelon (in moderation!).

🧊 Bonus Tip:
Freeze ceramic tiles and bottles overnight and rotate them through cages during heatwaves.

⚠️ Watch for Heat Stress Signs:
Panting, lethargy, drooling, ears held outward, and red or warm ears are red flags. Move affected rabbits to a cool area immediately and contact a vet.

Your rabbits count on you to keep them safe—especially when the temps climb. Stay cool, friends, and give those fluffy noses some extra love! 💗🐇

GBR Acacia (broken chocolate fox)x Walburgs' Pez (lilac otter)

For those who don't know, I have been working to produce my own lilac otters for over 2 years now. The few times in the past when they did pop up, they were usually peanuts or stillborn. I really can't express how happy it makes me to finally have a few lilacs/lilac otters after all the effort and patience over the past few years. I am excited to watch this litter and Lavender's litter continue to grow ❤️

This was a co-breeding with our good friend and breeding partner Royal Triumph Rabbitry

(Reminders: I breed for my rabbitry and my breeding/co-breeding programs first an foremost.
I also no longer do any sort of wait-list. In the future IF and when any are looking to hop, they will be posted in my FB group)

Farm Boys Bunnies Lavender Fields (broken lilac) x Sunny Days Muffin (chocolate otter)

I always love seeing how much their color develops over the first few days. And I'm always excited to have lilac babies pop up 🥰

Miss Acacia also welcomed a litter today!
She had six, but one was unfortunately DOA and three are peanuts. But I can't wait to watch these two healthy babies grow. Six babies explains why she was as big as a house! And that was from only one fall off 😳

Farm Boys Bunnies Lavender Fields (broken lilac) x Sunny Days Muffin (chocolate otter)

Lavender welcomed 2 little ones today! Looks like she may have had a little bit of difficulty because I can see some bruising on the babies, but otherwise they look nice and healthy 🥰
