The All Misfit Dogs' Rescue & Doggie Daycare/Hotel have extra guests for this cold snap. Us humans say: "Thank you for the extra warmth!"

In rescue, you always hear about all the happy new families that dogs get to be a part of, but you rarely hear about how a dog's life could have been changed to a long life, without hearing the ugly facts. Unfortunately, for Doc, this is what happened to him. We tried to treat his physical needs and health issues, but because a human who believed, that when a dog grows up, they do not need to buy a larger collar, Doc had health issues we could not fix. When we outgrow our pants, we get a larger pair. When our children outgrow their clothes, we don't make them wear them. We buy them a larger size. When a dog can no longer fit in his collar, because he grows up, we, as the caretakers of these animals, need to know the collar has to be adjusted or we buy them a larger one.
When Doc came to MARS, a year-and-a-half ago, His collar was in bedded in his neck. It was cutting off the circulation to his head, which we believe is the reason for his seizures. Dr. Green and her staff, at MARS Vet Clinic, did everything that they could to get his seizures under control. He went from multiple seizures in a day, to a few seizures in a week, and then months without any seizures. He was able to enjoy life, being reunited with his family of Miss Ellie and Sue Ellen. He loved to run and chase them along with the Misfit Hotel guests.
In the recent days, Doc started to have more frequent seizures again, and started to lose his balance and would sleep more than play. Last weekend, he had multiple seizures again, with one lasting over 7 minutes. He also had a seizure as he was hopping up the stairs and fell backwards. I was there to catch him, but not until he had fallen two or three steps. His quality of life had decline rapidly. So, as caretakers of Doc, we needed to make a choice for hi
