World Horse Expo recap 🙂

“May” and Zofia were rockstars! It was their first time being demo riders and riding in a coliseum. They were stars and even got a thank you message from the clinician afterward.

“Apollo” and Jayme took their first long trip away from home together! It was very successful. Apollo was very well behaved and Jayme handled his training well.

“Sonic” was very excited and spent much of his time trying to look over the top of the stall! Howver, he got some good work outs in and enjoyed riding in multiple arenas.

Thank you to Jazz for coming to support us on Saturday! Also, for the donuts, apples, carrots, and help.

“Buzz” 🐝 returned home after spending July 2024 to January 2025 as a therapy boy. We can tell from the pictures that he had a great time. “4star” was so happy to see him that he was licking his neck.
Thanks to High and Mighty staff and to those who worked with “Buzz” for taking such good care of him. He looks fat and happy 😊

On December 6th “Sonic” joined his friend “Willy” in Galena, MD and approximately 85 other horses and riders at the Wicomico Hunt Club Inaugural V***n Hunt. This was his first time hunting! Everyone was excited because the hunt was hosting seven-time Olympian Mr. Phillip Dutton as the guest Field Master. Sonic was a superstar and enjoyed galloping in a large pack and handled shipping alone very well.

This trailer needed a proper send off…

After years of faithful service hauling more horses and ponies then most trailers do in a lifetime….to clinics, events, shows, the vets, doing hay pick ups, and teaching young or fearful horses to load…. even hauling lawn tractors to their doctors appointments… she is off to her next adventure. The new owner said he is fixing her up for his sister-in-law as a Xmas gift 🎁

LKTA- 10/13/24- We lucked out!! The rain ☔️ was bearable and the horses behaved. A 7th place out of 19 teams was well deserved and “Ace” made his debut for Sky Farm. The trails were actually wonderful to ride on and they were very well marked this year. Such a great day!
Logan rode “Ace” and Zofia rode “May”. Thank you to Brian Wilcox for the beautiful jump picture of them. “Sonic” and Lilly were along to play as well.

Dutchess County Fair ~ 8/21/2024

What a long day!!! Sky Farm rider’s nerves were high, the competition was fierce, and the classes were large, but the horses were well behaved! The riders did their very best to navigate the warm up and their classes, but nonetheless ribbons were hard to come by. However, a good and safe day was had by all!

Thank you to Lorna for for coming to groom/assist and to those who came to cheer the riders/horses(pony) on. Your support is much appreciated and welcomed.

Now….. for the highlights….

Guess who won their stakes class for hunters?

Guess who competed in their first off farm show for the first time ever?

Guess who was in ther first group canter class?

Guess who rode “Ginger” in complete control (well except for the poles class when she got a little bit too excited!!!!)?😜

Copake Bicentennial Parade 2024~ What a fun event!!!! This was Sky Farm on the way to line up 🙂 The weather was perfect and the animals and people did an amazing job.

The reality of a horse show… behind the scenes action…

Despite the 🌧️ ☔️ rain on Saturday (6/29/24) and a 7:26 am ride time to boot… “Lilly” and Jillian put in a good effort at Larkin Hill Horse Trials. As you can see they had 🤩 fun! Congratulations to Michael… he was XC judge #4!!!

New York Adventure 5 26, 2024 The ride was beautiful, well marked, and a great adventure! Some fun was had but overall a challenging day! It was a good reminder that we should always expect the unexpected! Our original thought was that the ladies would out run “Sonic” and he would retire half way. This is what we prepared for and planned on. However, this is what actually happened 🙂 “May” was pulled after 20 miles due to what we presume was a stone bruise. We think we know exactly where she did it! She is in a good mood and seems sound now. She was strong on the trail and had a blast. “Lilly” was super happy to have her pasture pal with her so she was a bit distracted. In addition to that distraction, a handful of horses got loose at camp in the middle of the night. This caused her to eat less than she should have and so she ran out of fuel about 5 miles from the halfway hold/vet check. The first half was long at approximately 20 miles. She got some lactic acid build up behind, got tight, and was also pulled at 20 miles. She also is fine and was trotting up her hill last night. “Sonic” finished 9th but brought his stallion show off attitude with him and acted a bit like he was untrained 🙂 He was very upset to ride without friends the second half but he did it! He was very strong and healthy overall! Thank you to Logan and Tori for coming along to crew. We couldn’t have done it without help. We really appreciate the support.

We knew “Sonic” would probably be a bit nervous to be in front of such a large crowd… but when he got the opportunity to participate in the Morgan Horse Demo we didn’t hesitate…. He is half Morgan after all. As many of you know he is shy with new people so what a unique experience for him and a great confidence builder. This was his first time in a setting like this and he handled it. Plus, this was particularly difficult because he was stabled next to mares (show secretary choice not ours…) so just leaving them behind at the stable was a hard ask (:

World Horse Expo, Harrisburg, PA 3/2/2024. The pair participated in the Don Schramm clinic (demo rider). The clinic was on grid work for jumping with focus on stride and technique.
