The planes are loaded and ready. Tuesday they’ll be flying to St. Thomas to collect ALL 400 animals at the overrun shelter. Thursday afternoon they will all be arriving in Statesville and shifted off to various rescues and shelters. Whole Pet will be taking 20 cats and kittens and 3 bunnies to rehome, treating 10 heartworm positive dogs, and adopting out 6 dogs. Starting Friday we have them ready for adoptions to start.
How can you help?
We still need donations for 5 heartworm treatments ($750 each).
We need to adopt these loves out! Send us all of your potential adopters!
We need donations for Wellness dry and canned cat food as well as Tidy Cat clumping unscented litter.
We may need transports from time to time over the next month to get dogs where they need to be for treatments etc.
We may need 6 foster families for a handful of cuties.

Freshpet is recalling dog food it says could be contaminated with salmonella.
The company says it was going to destroy this one lot of its "Fresh From the Kitchen Home Cooked Chicken Recipe", but some of it was accidentally shipped to retailers.

There are no reports of injuries yet, but it could make your dog sick and you sick.
Dogs with Salmonella infections may be lethargic and have diarrhea or bloody diarrhea, fever and vomiting. Some dogs will have only decreased appetite, fever and abdominal pain. Infected but otherwise healthy dogs can be carriers and infect other animals or humans. The FDA says that if your dog has consumed the recalled product and has these symptoms, please contact your veterinarian.
