So I had an idea. I'd like to do a Horsemans Expo. A handful of trainers from different spectrums of the industry doing demos one hr or so long, some medical veterinarian lectures, and a few farriers from different parts of the area like Edgewood Santa Fe ABQ and Socorro doing demos as well, in conjunction with a tack swap and "barn dance" over the weekend I'm here teaching in August. I'd love to do it on a Saturday and Sunday. I'm hoping I've found a host but we need VENDORS, VOLUNTEERS THAT WOULD LOVE TO SHOW DEMOS, VOLUNTEERS IN GENERAL, FOOD TRUCKS AND OTHER FOOD VENDORS ARE ABSOLUTELY WELCOME IF SELF SUFFICIENT, AND PEOPLE WHO WOULD HELP WITH THE TACK SWAP. THANKS IN ADVANCE FOLKS.

ANNOUNCEMENT
TODAYS GOING TO BE JUST FOR YOU GUYS.
I've never had this much trouble getting my horse for the clinics a ride, but I give up on the trailer. I set time aside for this all day so I'll be there. But if nobody brings horses it'll be a question answer day for them that arrive. I'll just be hanging out if nobody else does though. No stress. No fuss. Just like I tell my students. Adapt. Adust. Arrive at a solution the. Just do the thing. Smile, breathe, and ride forward. Big breaths and slower circles. It's a for fun free day so have fun. See y'all at the arena.

At Browning turn South exiting Paseo del Norte
Turn left on first left, @ paseo frontage road .
Just short of the fire station turn right into the horse park. See you there.

So this is the clinic live video from the Edgewood free event today the give back events that I am doing on Saturdays.
Now because it's Edgewood and the weather is what it is I will be going back probably oh tomorrow or Monday and doing a shared screen live watch party or maybe screen recorded session where I go through what I'm doing with the commentary so that I can explain it in real time where I could be heard I didn't feel like yelling towards the phone all day.

we will have another free give back events next week on Saturday in Albuquerque at the arena off paseo and Browning up by the fire station off the paseo frontage road.
so you go paseo to Browning you turn South on Browning take your first left to follow that up to the fire station and turn right just before the fire station.
I will definitely have some fun next weekend over there

Today this video has a basic run through of what I would do for a c**t start from initial catching to saddling to prep for the farrier. we did first ride and we did how I would transition to Liberty from bridle.
we kind of ran out of time to do obstacles and trailers so those will be things that again like always that will be covered at every event that I do for the people who need the help so don't worry if you missed it .
The two horses that showed up today, besides the one that I used, were pretty good. we didn't have a whole lot of time with them today but they're also lesson students, so it was a good chance to establish a baseline for me to see where we're at with each of the students and their horses.

I was especially proud of Lily . She's 11 years old coming 12 she's what I would call a danger pony for sure she has the vet so scared he won't work on her, of course that goes along with watching the owner get bumped on his butt by her hip spooking it something at which point she kicked out and he ended up with 35 stitches in his face, so I could understand any vet being apprehensive about working on an animal like that.
She's had four trainers, and to my knowledge she's hurt every single one. You can see at the beginning that she definitely has some issues to trust and in the middle we showed some issues with I know how to make people stop and so I'm going to get a little aggressive. I started her when she was 10 yrs old, in my wild to mild virtual clinic last year.

The thing that made me so proud of her is that when I started her last year and my wild virtual clinic, it doesn't seem like anybody's done anything with her. she got started, but she still kind of has everybody's number at home. She's not unloved but nobody's really trying to find out if she's gonna hurt someone else.
So it's been about a year since she's been worked with and ridden. she's out of shape, she's a little beat up from her own decisions. We learned not to pick fights through a fence cuz we kick through and we goober ourselves.
She tries real hard and is honestly One of my favorite horses. She's got so much try, synapse, affection and protection. It's the coolest thing.
she did so so good for me I think she's going to end up being just a walk trot horse though
I don't feel like pushing her past that because of her level of resistance which I believe is probably due to soreness or lingering injury pain.
Today I wanted to show all three gates and I think she got " ready to quit" before we stopped but you can see in the video, she has no desire to lope. Period.
So I don't think that asking for " more" than Student to Intermediate level flat showing, or simulate level working Expectations would be the best, kindest, or funnest thing to do, but it's going to be fun getting to work with her some more for these events.

What made her a perfect clinic horse at least for this one was that she went through all three stages of a good clinic horse.
she showed resistance, non-compliance, unwillingness and basic antisocial behavior with humans in the beginning. in the middle it was okay but we still got a little bit of attitude and aggressive at some points. then at the end it was really really good
Being able to take the halter off and ride around with nothing on her face at all no string around her neck, just me, her, a flag and the round pen.
eventually it would be great to get to where we could do some Liberty stuff competitively with her. the ILHA is doing some cool things with liberty showing both in person and online show types. I bet she could handle the Walk trot classes.
I just think she's a really really cool horse especially for a slightly older gir.l I'm as proud of her today as I am of the students that showed up to the event.
it was a really fun day and I look forward to seeing more of you in Albuquerque next weekend.

I know I posted this before but I'm going to put it in as where it belongs so this is interesting to listen to. This is a really good good clip and every time I watch it I learn something or enhance a skill it's awesome. watch it again listen to it take it in the word of God coming through this man about horses and if you don't put attention it's your own fault
