Friday was our second study on Fear. Gosh the more I study it the more it feels like fear drives a lot of our decisions and actions. His is showing up to reveal so much to us. We talked about FAITH OVER FEAR. Not that we can’t feel fear but our faith in God has to be greater than our fear. We watched Brenna connect with Mae and talked about the trust needed to work through our fear.
We have two more weekly studies. And then we will have a Deep Dive day long retreat November 9. This will review the four weeks of study for anyone that couldn’t make the weekly times. But we will go deeper into the Word, deeper into how our brain and body respond to fear, and of course deeper into the relationships with the horses. Anyone is able to join! We’d love to have you!

Our first womens Studying the Word with the Herd was great. We started diving into fear and its meanings. As well as what it means when the Lord says to fear Him. We did some connection work with Mae and talked about her journey through fear responses. God is so good! Can’t wait for Friday!

Day 3 of RUBIES camp.
What an amazing way to end the week!
We talked about being ENOUGH and STRONG. We continued finding rhythm with each other and ultimately the horses.
We did my favorite exercise ever, colored breathing art. And then said goodbye to their friends.
Thank you Lord for one of the best experiences of my career. This has been on my heart for a while but I was never sure if anyone would come or enjoy it. Thank you Julie for being willing to do this with me. Thank you Lisa for dedicating three days to us and being such an important part. Thanks to everyone who trusted us with your amazing daughters and those who shared it.
I’m on fire and can’t wait for more!

Day 2 of RUBIES camp.
It was all about embracing our UNIQUENESS, recognizing how we communicate, and how we each have our own rhythm and beat but we can all play together. We made our own instruments and then played our own unique beats together. My first time leading a drum circle and I am super proud of myself for stepping outside my comfort zone and having SO MUCH FUN doing it! Then we named false labels we have been called or believe, then decreeing what God says about us. We painted the false labels on the horses and washed them off. Then we finished the day with an amazing worship session led by Bethany tippin. It was such a beautiful day.

Today was day 1 of our RUBIES Proverbs 31 girls and horses camp.
The more I worked on the content and schedule of this camp the more excited I got to share what I’d learned.
Today we talked about how God tells us we are more precious than rubies and everyone got a ruby necklace to remind themselves of this. We talked about “Resilient” and “Beautiful” as our two virtues today.
We decorated journals with gems and Bible verses and all sorts of creativity. Our horse time was spent connecting through grooming and leading. We spent time watching the herd and sharing how we felt and what we thought (words like majestic, beautiful, funny, dramatic) and then looking in the mirror and describing how we felt or what we thought. The truth is our culture spends a lot of time telling us we re not okay the way God made us and telling us to compare ourselves to others and look better, do better, be better. We fought those lies with the truth that we are Gods masterpiece.

Loving a horse is inherently risky. They'll never be here long enough. And so, far too often, I meet people who keep a little wall around their hearts, protecting themselves from falling "too in love" with their equine friends.

It's not done intentionally. It's not a conscious decision to shield themselves from the intense connection and intimacy that comes with the horse-human partnership.

But when we really stop in a moment of connection with a horse, our hearts start to swell. The emotions come flooding in. We feel, for a moment, that our entire soul exists outside of our bodies. And, for most of us, the innate response is to shy away. To change the subject. To pat their neck twice and then move on to the next thing.

When was the last time you stood next to a horse and simply rested your hand on their neck? Truly just stood there in a beautiful moment in time that exists only for the two of you?

When I ask people to do this, they typically last about 5 seconds and then they start moving their hand... or they turn away... or they look around. It's so hard for people to stay truly present in that moment because the emotions that come flooding to the surface are overwhelming. They're powerful.

It's this beautiful, soul-encompassing intensity that makes you realize just how much of yourself you've given to this fragile, yet powerful, animal standing before you.

It makes you feel things you haven't felt in years. Levels of love and connection that you didn't know existed. True, heartfelt, all-consuming intimacy.

Loving a horse is inherently risky. Yet, I've never met a single person who says, after their horse leaves his/her body, "Wow, I wish I would have loved him less."

Instead, they always say:

"I wish I would have spent more time just being there. Smelling her. Listening to her chew her hay. I wish I would have spent more time in those small moments."

So, my advice for you? Love them. Fully.

Let it happen. Let it all in. Get lost in those moments when your heart starts to swell and the tears start to fall. Choose to embrace the feeling.

This is what it's all about. This is the magical thing that exists between horses and humans. 🫶🏻

Morning Mantra: “I can do hard things.”

Strangely, life can get harder when you try to make it easier.
Exercising might be hard, but a body that never moves makes life harder.
Uncomfortable conversations are hard, but avoiding every conflict is harder.
Mastering your craft is hard, but having no skills is harder.
Relationships are hard, but loneliness is harder.
Work is hard, but not having an income is harder.
Eating healthy is hard, but disease from a poor diet is harder.
Easy has a cost.

- When my instructor repeats to me: ′′Straighten your shoulders and open your chest!” He’s not just teaching me how to stand up. He's teaching me that in life we should always walk straight and face problems head on.

- When my instructor asks me to lower my legs and keep them close to the horse, he teaches me that in life we do not allow distractions and that little is enough to deviate from his path.

- When my instructor tells me "Too much hand, don't hang on to the reins! "He teaches me to give and not to take, with the greatest respect of others.

- When he yells and repeats endlessly: "Look forward in the direction you want to go!” He teaches me the importance of setting goals and never losing sight of them to achieve them.

- When I ask to move up or do more and my instructor says I'm not ready, he teaches me that in life you must always respect your rhythm and never skip the steps.

- When I fall and get back up, I learn that there are always setbacks, times when we back up, but the important thing is to get up more determined than before.

- If I hold my breath during a ride and he jokingly tells me "breathe! You are purple!” I understand that you have to let your emotions flow in order to get rid of them.

- When at the end of the course I am happy with the work done and my instructor says to me′ ′Well done, thank your teacher′′ I know he is not referring to himself but to my horse.

- Now you, you who are watching a rider pass in the saddle, keep saying that riding is not a sport because it is the horse that does everything. I agree. Horse riding is not a sport. It is a life lesson.

I think that one of the most unhealthy things that we do as a society, and especially in the horse industry, is compare ourselves, our lives and our progress to the next guy.

I’m guilty. I used to do it, too.

I used to think my horse was “behind” because I was focused on the basics - stretching, transitions, straightness, building confidence, growing our relationship, etc. And other horses the same age were pumping out upper level movements like they were going to the Olympics as 6 year olds.

Let me tell you, all that liberty work, cross training, hacking, stretching, etc. that I did was well worth it. My horse is stronger - physically, mentally and emotionally. She’s solid, confident and only getting better by the day. Those tests movements are not a problem.

Enjoy the journey with your horse.

I don’t know what the other guy is doing anymore.

It’s none of my business.

Delete, block, unfollow - for your own mental health.

The horse show isn’t your legacy.

The years will pass and no one else will remember the ribbons you won, the trophies on the shelf or your matchy outfit. Do that for you because it’s good for your soul.

Do it to build a bond and a relationship your horse. Do it to show others that it can be done. That your dreams can be accomplished, if you put in the work.

Your legacy is how you make others feel. Do you give them hope? An ear? A shoulder? An encouraging word? Are you kind to all those around you?

This is your legacy. Your kindness, generosity and support will be carried on, from generation to generation.

In a world where you can be anything, be kind.

I love this. We are the professional of our lives. We have the answers If we don't quit. The only enemy to solutions is inertia... Beautifully said.

In a world that encourages you to claim your deficiencies before you claim your strengths, as performative modesty, be brave enough to admit what you know for sure.

Admitting what you know for sure, is a foundation of confidence. Admitting what you know for sure, is not signing a contract to dogma, because you are free. You are free to change and grow, even on what you know for sure. Because you know it for sure... right now.

So here is what I know for sure, right now.

We are often the last one to know what our strengths are. We are often the last one to know what our weaknesses are. We are so busy. Busy with late stage capitalism and trying to survive and get through the day intact that we lack adequate opportunity to stop. Take stock, and know something for sure.

Usually, everyone around you (horses included) can see you. Know what you're doing well and what you need growth on. Even if you don't.

Another thing I know for sure, right now.

How frequently we are solution unaware. We are first to lament on our confusions, on our grievances. But are often unaware that we may be in the middle of the solution.

Struggling with a training technique? That means you're in the middle of solving it. Struggling to understand your horse? That means you're in the middle of figuring it out. Don't know yet what is the right thing to do? That means you are in the middle of figuring it out.

The only enemy of solutions is inertia. When you stop trying. Or become intellectually passive and play as a person in distress, hoping someone else is going to come and save you.

Nobody is coming to save you. You are the solution. Not a method. Not your hero. Not your horse. You are the solution to you.
