Andy and I spent most of the weekend putting in fence along the west side and east side of our “back yard” to give the horses more shade while they are in the paddock/off the pasture. I think they approve. Oh and the extra horse belongs to a friend who is out of town, I’m horse setting. :).
I added some limbs to make it feel more natural.
All six are still alive and thriving!
Never get old watching them!
Momma hen that decide to lay outside of the coop hatched her babies about 48 hours ago. We were able to guide them to safety in the coop. Out of 9 eggs. 6 hatched and survived. Will probably put them up for sale mid to late June.
Andy worked about 5+ hours today pulling the old/mostly dead crepe myrtles out of the ground. They had some massive roots!! We had to dig around them to expose the roots. Some times he could pull them out mostly with the tractor but half of them had some very deep roots that he had to wack the roots and it wasn’t easy with them being against the fence!!
I am so very thankful for a strong man
Here is a sample of what went on. Attempt number 1 to pull it with the tractor…
Poor Frankie. He tries to show off, but the hens are not impressed 🤣
Horse vs peacock. Mo wanted in the paddock, but Frankie was blocking the path. Even saw Mo stick his face in Frankie’s feathers. Mo finally got him to move enough that he could sneak past him 🤣
Jake had fun in the soft fresh dirt!
Ohhh man it’s a good thing that there isn’t smellavision 🤢. Why why do they have to poop in mud?? They have a nice clean stall!!
Andy got it all dug away and most of the new dirt laid but it got just too dart to level it out properly. Hopefully we can get it don’t tomorrow before the rains hit.
Andy got the atv sprayer working (it was losing pressure) and was finely able to spray the arena. Yeah! This stuff will kill everthing for up to a year, but it is slow and we won’t see greenery die off for several weeks. Then we can drag it and have Jair dirt floor arena! Yeah!! And yes. Next time he’s wearing a mask!
A view from our front gate. Can’t believe how much we have done!
Hummers frantically feeding before the rains hit
Caught one of my peahens pecking at my flowers. Hope she is eating bugs!
