NEW CHAMPION-MASTER HUNTER

CH, Int'l CH HR Rippling Waters Rosalita MH CGCA FDC ATT TKN BCAT ("Rosie") completed her Master Hunter title this weekend at the Fall Line Retriever Club hunt test near Lincolnton, Georgia. Rosie was bred, owned, and trained by Kathleen Luthy and Alan Luthy. She was handled in Master tests by Alan. Rosie earned her five Master qualifications in just six tests.

Rosie is now the 20th dog bred by Rippling Waters Chesapeakes to earn both a conformation Championship and a Master Hunter title.

Rosie was bred, owned, and trained by Kathleen Luthy and Alan Luthy. She was handled at this test by Alan.

HR Rippling Waters Brigid SH BCAT CGC TKN ("Brigid") passed her first Master Hunter hunting test this weekend at the Tallahassee Hunting Retriever Club test held at Borderline and Springhill Plantations near Thomasville, Georgia. Brigid is owned by Kathleen Luthy and Paul Alan Luthy. Brigid was bred by Kathleen and trained/handled by Alan.

Rippling Waters Chesapeakes completed four new UKC Hunting Retriever titles this weekend at the Bay Area Hunting Retriever Club tests near Lilian, Alabama. GCH CH Int'l CH HR Rippling Waters Whirly Girl JH CGC TKN ("Whirly") titled on Saturday. Sunday saw three more of our dogs title - Int'l CH HR Rippling Waters Rosalita JH CGCA FDC ATT TKN BCAT ("Rosie"), GCH CH Int'l CH HR Rippling Waters Baylee MH CGCA TKN ATT ("Baylee"), and HR Rippling Waters Brigid JH BCAT CGC TKN ("Brigid"). All four dogs titled without a single test failure along the way. Rosie, Baylee, and Brigid each passed four of four tests at the Seasoned level. Whirly passed three of three Seasoned tests on the way to her title (needing one less pass due to previously earning her Started Hunting Retriever title).

New Champion - Master Hunter!

CH HR Rippling Waters Caffeina MH (CH HRCH Rippling Waters Flash Gordon MH x CH HR Rippling Waters Sea Star SH) earned her fifth and final qualification toward her AKC Master Hunter title this weekend at the Mid-Florida Golden Retriever Club test near Montverde, Florida. It was a strong outing for Caffeina, as she pretty much pinned the marks in all three series and ran good blinds. Caffeina was bred, owned, trained, and handled by Kathleen and Alan Luthy. Alan handled her this weekend.

We are also hoping to make her a new Hunting Retriever Champion in the new year after she earned a couple of Finished passes at the Southwest Georgia Hunting Retriever Club tests a few weeks back.

Caffeina is the nineteenth conformation Champion - Master Hunter bred by Rippling Waters Chesapeakes.

Rippling Waters Brigid JH won a Judges Award of Merit in the Derby at the American Chesapeake Club Field Trial Specialty near Stoughton, Wisconsin. Rippling Waters Chase N Awesome CGC took First Place in the Senior Puppy Stake. We celebrated with lunch and fresh frozen custard at the original Culver's restaurant in Sauk City.

After all these years, it's still a bit exciting to look in the mailbox and see one of those big envelopes from AKC. This one contained Baylee's Master Hunter title certificate.

Baylee took a convoluted path to her Master Hunter title: We kept a different puppy from her litter and Baylee was the last female chosen. She turned out to be way too busy for the lady who bought her, even though she was the calmest puppy in the litter. We volunteered to take her back at about six months of age and saw she was no beauty. She had a funny looking head that was way too big for her scrawny body. There was no way we were keeping her when we already had a gorgeous female puppy from the same litter. However, before we could place Baylee with an appropriate new owner, she started to come together physically and we became increasingly enamored with her delightful personality. Eventually, we decided she really was meant to be ours.

Baylee loved dog shows and easily became a conformation Champion and Grand Champion - all amateur-handled. Serious field work was put on the back burner several times though because of various human life events, the COVID crisis, Alan's brush with cancer, a mysterious illness Baylee contracted, and then Baylee producing a litter of her own. When she actually did get proper training, she turned out to be pretty good - only failing a single test on the march through her Junior Hunter, Senior Hunter, and Master Hunter titles.
