Rippling Waters Chesapeakes completed four new UKC Hunting Retriever titles this weekend at the Bay Area Hunting Retriever Club tests near Lilian, Alabama. GCH CH Int'l CH HR Rippling Waters Whirly Girl JH CGC TKN ("Whirly") titled on Saturday. Sunday saw three more of our dogs title - Int'l CH HR Rippling Waters Rosalita JH CGCA FDC ATT TKN BCAT ("Rosie"), GCH CH Int'l CH HR Rippling Waters Baylee MH CGCA TKN ATT ("Baylee"), and HR Rippling Waters Brigid JH BCAT CGC TKN ("Brigid"). All four dogs titled without a single test failure along the way. Rosie, Baylee, and Brigid each passed four of four tests at the Seasoned level. Whirly passed three of three Seasoned tests on the way to her title (needing one less pass due to previously earning her Started Hunting Retriever title).

New Champion - Master Hunter!

CH HR Rippling Waters Caffeina MH (CH HRCH Rippling Waters Flash Gordon MH x CH HR Rippling Waters Sea Star SH) earned her fifth and final qualification toward her AKC Master Hunter title this weekend at the Mid-Florida Golden Retriever Club test near Montverde, Florida. It was a strong outing for Caffeina, as she pretty much pinned the marks in all three series and ran good blinds. Caffeina was bred, owned, trained, and handled by Kathleen and Alan Luthy. Alan handled her this weekend.

We are also hoping to make her a new Hunting Retriever Champion in the new year after she earned a couple of Finished passes at the Southwest Georgia Hunting Retriever Club tests a few weeks back.

Caffeina is the nineteenth conformation Champion - Master Hunter bred by Rippling Waters Chesapeakes.

After all these years, it's still a bit exciting to look in the mailbox and see one of those big envelopes from AKC. This one contained Baylee's Master Hunter title certificate.

Baylee took a convoluted path to her Master Hunter title: We kept a different puppy from her litter and Baylee was the last female chosen. She turned out to be way too busy for the lady who bought her, even though she was the calmest puppy in the litter. We volunteered to take her back at about six months of age and saw she was no beauty. She had a funny looking head that was way too big for her scrawny body. There was no way we were keeping her when we already had a gorgeous female puppy from the same litter. However, before we could place Baylee with an appropriate new owner, she started to come together physically and we became increasingly enamored with her delightful personality. Eventually, we decided she really was meant to be ours.

Baylee loved dog shows and easily became a conformation Champion and Grand Champion - all amateur-handled. Serious field work was put on the back burner several times though because of various human life events, the COVID crisis, Alan's brush with cancer, a mysterious illness Baylee contracted, and then Baylee producing a litter of her own. When she actually did get proper training, she turned out to be pretty good - only failing a single test on the march through her Junior Hunter, Senior Hunter, and Master Hunter titles.

Another Master pass for Caffeina! CH Rippling Waters Caffeina SH (CH HRCH Rippling Waters Flash Gordon MH x CH Rippling Waters Sea Star SH) earned her fourth qualification toward her AKC Master Hunter title this weekend at the Black Warrior Retriever Club test near Brilliant, Alabama. Caffeina was bred, owned, trained, and handled by Kathleen and Alan Luthy. Alan handled her this weekend.

New Grand Champion-Master Hunter.

GCH Int'l CH Rippling Waters Baylee SH (BISS GCH Chestnut Hills Windjammer SH x CH HR Rippling Waters Sea Star SH) earned her AKC Master Hunter title on Sunday at the Tallahassee Hunting Retriever Club Test near Thomasville, Georgia. After earning her Senior Hunter title just in November, Baylee advanced to the Master level and achieved the required five Master qualifications in only six tests. Including her record at Junior and Senior, Baylee has now passed 13 of 14 hunting tests entered.

Baylee is the 18th dog bred by Rippling Waters Chesapeakes to achieve both a conformation Championship and a Master Hunter title.

Baylee was bred, owned, trained, and handled by Kathleen and Alan Luthy.

Master passes today for two Rippling Waters half-sisters at the Lower Alabama Hunting Retriever Club Mid-Week Master Test. CH Rippling Waters Caffeina SH (CH HRCH Rippling Waters Flash Gordon MH x CH Rippling Waters Sea Star SH) earned her third qualification toward her AKC Master Hunter title. GCH Rippling Waters Baylee SH (GCH Chestnut Hills Windjammer SH x CH HR Rippling Waters Sea Star SH) earned her fourth Master qualification. Both are bred, owned, trained, and handled by us.

Rosie's fourth title in two weeks! This time we were at the Tallahassee dog show cluster. Rosie and I found an Advanced CGC, asked what was involved, etc. We tried it and she did great! Also at this cluster we tried and earned our first two thirds of a Beginner Coursing title (BCAT). I am proud of my girl. We hadn't done any prior training or taken any classes specifically for Farm Dog Certification (FDC) or Canine Good Citizen (CGC) or Canine Good Citizen Advanced (CGCA) or the American Temperament Test Society's Advanced Temperament Test (ATT). I think Rosie's solid disposition and early socialization along with the basic manners we teach all of our dogs is what allowed her to accomplish four titles in two weeks.

Rosie's second title in one day and third title in two days! As we wandered around further at the show site we came across a CGC test. Once again, I asked what the requirements were and once again I decided to let Rosie give it a try. As with the Farm Dog title, Rosie aced it! The next day after showing, Rosie tried her paw at the Advanced Temperament Test offered by the American Temperament Test Society. (I am still not sure if this title is recognized by AKC but was told that it was - we will see.......Its a different temperament test than that offered by AKC.) So, two days, three titles. GOOD GIRL ROSIE!!

Rosie's first title! Rosie and I were wandering around the Lakeland show-site after showing conformation to see what else we might do before ring time the next day. We found a farm dog test, I asked what that involved and decided to give it a try. Rosie aced it! This is the first of many titles in this girl's future!

Baylee (GCH Rippling Waters Baylee SH) and Caffeina (CH Rippling Waters Caffeina SH) made us extremely proud by each earning their first two Master Hunter qualifications this weekend at the Lower Alabama Hunting Retriever Club doubleheader Master tests near Lilllian, Alabama. Holding it together mentally through six test series in two days is a tough challenge for any dog, let alone for a pair of dogs just starting to compete at this level.

Rippling Waters Rosalita (GCHB, Int'l CH Rippling Waters Brown Bart SH x CH HR Rippling Waters Caffeina SH) earned two Junior Hunter qualifications in her first hunt test outing this weekend at the Lower Alabama Hunting Retriever Club tests near Lillian, Alabama. Her performance was nigh on perfect each day. We're looking for good things out of this girl!

Nine month old Rippling Waters Brigid (CH Vee's Zeus of Lzy Mtn QA2 X GCH Intl CH Rippling Waters Baylee JH) had a successful first hunt test outing this weekend, earning her first two Junior Hunter qualifications at the Lower Alabama Hunting Retriever Club tests near Lillian, Alabama. Both sets of judges were impressed by her blazing speed and spectacular water entries.

NEW SENIOR HUNTER! GCH, Int'l CH Rippling Waters Baylee SH earned her Senior Hunter title with passes both days at the Lower Alabama Hunting Retriever Club tests in Lillian, Alabama this weekend. Baylee went four for four at Senior tests. She earned her title in just two weekends - though a year and a half apart due to an illness, a litter of puppies, and human issues getting in the way.
