Dogs do not need to *meet* on walks in the neighborhood.

Dogs need to learn how to tolerate the presence of other dogs without conflict or being overly 'friendly'. It rarely ends well when dogs are allowed to greet while leashed.

Sitting calmly while owners converse, waiting to cross the road or escorting the kids to the bus stop is easier on everybody.

The presence of another dog should be as uneventful as any other routine in your dog's life.

Everybody's dog is capable of performing when there are no distractions. Where people struggle is when their dog shows more interest in the environment than in them.

We can help you fix that.

Remember - Training can happen anywhere. Practice happens EVERYWHERE.

Two of these adorable little nuggets are still looking for their perfect home!

Female puppies - 9 weeks old - located in central Florida. Ready to head home now.

Their momma, Promise, is out of our National Specialty Winning (only the 2nd female EVER) girl, Fannie May. Their dad, Casey, was in the top 10 several years in a row. Super sweet, gorgeous puppies out of beautiful parents with all their health clearances.

We will soon be looking for a perfect new home for an older adult neutered male. This boy is truly easy in every sense. He has no behavioral or medical issues and requires no special care. He is 8 years old. His family is distraught over the need to rehome him and he will be coming home to Blue View next week. We have had the honor of spending a great deal of time with this fellow over the years so know him quite well.
He gets along with dogs large and small, has helped raise 3 children from babies to toddlers to little people. He has not ever had any issues with our cats. He is playful. He listens well off-leash and has perfect house manners. He is crate trained but doesn’t require a crate.
I would strongly prefer that he finds a home close to Virginia.
Please message the page for more information.

Puppy crate training tip!

Puppy crate training tip!

ITS PUPPY SEASON: DAWN DISH SOAP AND DIRTY PUPPIES...

Crate training and housebreaking are always a ton of fun, so here comes a pro tip.

When talking crate training, something that is often overlooked is the importance of removing any and all odor not only from the kennel, but from the puppy itself.

Most puppy shampoos lack the ability to fully strip the lingering smell of urine from the coat. If the dog continues to smell even faintly like p*e, they are going to be much more likely to continue to eliminate in an area that, to them, already seems dirty.

A TIP FROM PRO GROOMERS: Dawn dish soap is a great solution to clean up a puppy that p*ed on itself. Mix up a 25% solution of Dawn & water in a sq**rt bottle and use it as you would any other shampoo. Don't worry, if it's safe for the ducks and seals it's just fine for your puppy. If you notice their coat getting too dry, just use some dog conditioner after you've scrubbed them clean.

Keeping puppies clean during this critical time is essential for their overall health and the expediency of the crate training process.

Outside of establishing a consistent routine, giving the puppy plenty of attention and reward for successful potty trips, and taking frequent outings, making sure the puppy itself is as clean as possible is critical to make the process as painless as possible.

It’s a gamble you guys 🎲

When you bring your seizing dog to the vet and the FIRST question is not “what do you use for flea and tick meds?” Then you know we have a big problem here.

Most people tell me that when their dog has a seizure or any neurological issue they take the dog to the vet and after tons of bloodwork and test after test with a clean bill of health that their vet never, not once, asked about flea and ticks meds that might have been given.

How are consumers ever going to learn about the dangers of this product if vets don’t even CONSIDER that this drug MIGHT be part of the problem? When you get a new puppy and you go to the vet guess what is in your puppy pack? Yup. One of these chewables.

I’m not sure what else to do so I just spread the word. It’s all we can do.

***Update. At this time, I believe Mr. Uhtred has a home. Thank you all for your interest in this great boy!

If you have raised a Swissy puppy and want to have a pup AND skip the house training part, meet Uhtred!
He is a real gem and his new family will be so lucky to have him.
We have recently taken back a wonderful young boy who is looking for a perfect new home. He is sweet, handsome, happy, and healthy. His family situation changed drastically and his wonderful owner reluctantly and tearfully handed him back to me to find him a great new life.
Uhtred is 17 months old. He loves everyone, especially fond of children. He gets along with all dogs, male and female. He is playful and loves his toys, plus he is “nice” to them— no ripping things up. He is completely housetrained and reliable. He is crate trained as well.

I am looking for a home that appreciates what a great deal it is to get a young well started boy without all the puppy chewing, biting, and p*eing. He is not a rescue dog, thus he does have a regular purchase price. Of seriously interested, please submit a puppy application and I will be in touch. He must be picked up from Cross Junction, VA.
