We ARE NOT ANIMAL CONTROL; we are a completely separate entity. We CANNOT DISPATCH ANIMAL CONTROL OFFICERS. Unfortunately, we are a kill shelter but we work with many heroic volunteers to find rescues and transport to no-kill shelters.

We just wanted to share this pretty girl's story and some great news we recieved today.
Ruby was found this summer in the middle of Catoosa Wildlife Area by her adopter, who was visiting from out of state She was very skinny and appeared to have been dumped by someone. The adopter loaded her up and brought her to the shelter for help. But they didn't just stop there, they stayed in touch checking on her and when she became available for adoption and had completed her vetting, they drove all the way back from Illinois to adopt her! Ruby now has a wonderful home with a wonderful family! We are so grateful for their kindess and dedication to this sweet girl!

The following is the update we recieved today.

Hello and Happy Tuesday. Ruby (formerly Razzle Dazzle) is doing well. She just graduated from Obedience 1. She has whipped our other 2 dogs into shape and rules the roost. We couldn't be happier that I found her.

Thank you for the early care and shelter you offered her.

Have a Happy Thanksgiving and Merry Christmas.

Ruby asked that we use her allowance money for food and treats for the other dogs of Cumberland County. You should get a Chewy delivery soon.

Our Story

Cumberland County Animal Shelter is a municipal shelter operated by Cumberland County in partnership with the City of Crossville. The primary function of the shelter is to provide temporary housing and care for the lost/stray animals brought to us by Animal Control Officers with the goal of reuniting them with their owners. Animals that are not reclaimed by owners may be placed up for adoption. We work very closely with several rescue organizations to place as many animals as possible into loving permanent homes.
