Meet Walter! This sad little guy has been fending for himself outside for over a year and a half. He has a horrible upper respiratory infection, he can barely hold his cloudy, infected eyes open because they are leaking gunk and blood. We’ve watched his health deteriorate. Much to my surprise our county animal control said that it was acceptable for him to remain outside in this condition because he might be feral. They would not help him. Yes that’s right, they said it was ok for a sick cat to continue to wander the neighborhood, suffering and potentially dying a slow death. Yet sick and injured wildlife are treat more humanely!! Thankfully after several stressful days, many tears and countless hours, I found 2 rescues that are willing to help me help him. He’s been trapped and started on a course of antibiotics. Hopefully his spicy attitude will improve as he feels better but if not and he’s truly feral he will be treated for his URI, vaccinated, neutered and release under the TNR program. If anyone wants to donate towards his care or to the rescues that are helping please PM me.
