UPDATE: Shrek was pulled by another rescue.

‼️URGENT FOSTER NEEDED‼️This poor old Cane Corso was left behind in the shelters night cages scared and confused. No senior should have to spend their days in the shelter and we want to get him out, but we must have a foster home for him to go to. The shelter has named this sweet soul Shrek and he weighs around 90lbs, but he could definitely stand to gain some more. He is a shy boy that takes time to warm up, but does so pretty quickly. He knows sit, paw and loves getting butt scratches and treats of any kind! We do not yet know how he is with kids, cats or other dogs so he will have to be kept separate initially. Do you have a spare room or a quiet spot this guy could settle into? The rescue supplies everything for him, we just need a soft place for this old man to rest until we can find his forever family.

Roney is a 9-year-old handsome ginger gentleman, who arrived at our shelter as an owner surrender when his family was moving. While this change wasn't part of his plans, let's focus on the positive – Roney is truly amazing, and his next home will be his furever one!

Sarah was seized in a dog fighting investigation in Macon-Bibb county. She had been at the shelter for 9 months and she was starting to lose weight. Sarah became urgent and needed to get out of there. Sarahs owner went to jail on animal cruelty charges. Her lip is ripped off. Her face and ears are completely scarred. Her front paw is disfigured and she has some serious wounds to her inner leg. She has been bred multiple times and she was heartworm positive. This poor girl has been through it all.

Even though Sarah has scars and is missing part of her lip, despite everything she has been through at the hands of humans, she still love everyone she meets. She is resilient and smart and she adores people. She turns into a pile of excited wiggles and happiness when people are around. She loves to run in the yard and will get crazy zoomies. She thinks bones and toys are fun, but she flinches and gets a bit scared if you raise your arm up to throw them for her. She loves food and already knows how to sit and kennel-up, although her missing lip causes her to be a little sloppy when chewing treats.

Despite her scars and lack of lip, Sarah is a beautiful dog whose silly personality shines. Sarah would love a family that is kind and enjoys watching her zoom around the yard. She likes to be active, but is also sweet and calm when its time. She would likely do well with older children as she tends to startle at loud noises, like clapping hands. Due to her past, Sarah needs to be the only pet in the home.

Open Letter to Whomever Abandoned this elderly dog by the Dumpster on Rte 1 in Branford .

It’s Been 4 days since you left him there . He was scared and shaking , lost and afraid . When animal shelter staff arrived to help him , he was confused and didn’t really want to go with them .

He arrived at the shelter but frantically scratched at the front door to be free most likely to look for you . You see , what we do to these animals like abandoning them in their older years , they would never do to us .

How is he doing now you ask ? Not well . He doesn’t want to eat or drink . He doesn’t want to leave this spot you see him in . He growls at staff out of fear . He trembles in his kennel as it is unknown to him .

He is not used to being in this environment and what a terrible way for him to spend thanksgiving. We are sure right now he doesn’t feel very thankful for what’s happened. We are sure he’s questioning what he did to lose you . We are sure he’s wondering who all of us are . We are certain he’s unfamiliar with the sounds , smells and sights .

While we understand that things happen in people’s lives and circumstances change , leaving an animal at a dumpster at this ( or any time of year) is uncalled for . And by looking at his overgrown nails, it appears you haven’t taken him to the vets in a long time .

We just want to point out that leaving an animal like that is a public safety risk as well . What if he was so scared he attacked a member of the public or one of the shelter staff going there to help him ? What if he ran out onto Rte 1 and a car avoided hitting him and hit a telephone pole instead , what if he himself was hit by a car or wondered onto the highway since it was right there? Did you not think of these things? Do you not care?

We have named him Clint Eastwood ( aka Dirty Harry)

While we have to assume that you really don’t care , we do . We will softly talk to him everyday until he loves us . We will hand feed him everyday until he eats . We will take him to the vet since you never bothered to neuter him . We will work tirelessly to gain the trust - you so easily have broken in him .

We are sorry Harry but we love you already.
