Hey everyone! I wanted to say how appreciative I am for meeting all of you and your fur babies throughout this experience of opening my very own salon. I have been blessed with a little girl right after Thanksgiving and as most of you know won't be back into my shop until January. I really do miss all of you and will be ready to come back when that time comes. I wanted to share some of my Christmas photos from last year to reminisce and feel like I'm back in my shop enjoying this holiday season with all of you.🎄

We at Lindsey's Pet Grooming care about you and wish many blessings for a nice joyful holiday season. I will be back before you know it 2024 is not so far away🎄🐾☺️

04/01/2023

Hey everyone I wanted to post about when you should bring your puppy in for he or she's first grooming session. Puppies get their first round of shots around 8 weeks and then again at 12 weeks and the 3rd shot at 16 weeks. I would love to see your puppy at about 12 weeks to get them used to my tools and used to the salon and of course to me to keep them on a 3 week schedule until I feel your puppy is ready for the full haircut. There is the window for socialization in puppies from three weeks to 16 weeks of age (with risk just be aware). Their brains are biologically wired to take the world in as it is put in front of them. I highly recommend socializing your puppy as well so that your puppy is okay meeting new people and meeting new pets along their lifetime and in the salon environment. This baby here has grown to enjoy the salon from her experiences and coming in for baths and brushes and sanitary trims. We both have a pleasant experience and less risk of an accident while holding scissors and clippers grooming your puppy. I also may not get bit if we can work as a team! Sounds like a win win and a great way to get your puppy introduced to life. Please make sure you're brushing and combing afterwards if you have a longer haired pup and I like to soak my pups in a tub filled with water and use my hands to move the water around their bodies and face to be comfortable without a nozzle right away. I gradually get them used to the nozzle. Together we can work as a team so if your puppy isn't enjoying bath time consider this method and give it a try. I hope this information helps and I hope everyone has a great weekend. Much love always, your groomer

Did you know that I don't just think about your children and mine when they are in my view?
I am constantly thinking about them.... nonstop!
I start to daydream and wonder what all these fuzzy children are doing and how they are feeling. I feel them from miles away and when I start thinking about them more their owners call or text me not so long after.
I feel tuned in to all my friends both big and small.
Feel free to comment or share an experience you have had with any type of animal, big or small.
I find that even a dragonfly can show me things and stop me in my busy day to remind me how special this world is. For instance.... yesterday I was in a funk thinking about things going on in my personal life and here comes this dragonfly unexpectedly. She flew around me a few times and landed by my feet, then flew up to my face and towards the sky where I noticed a cloud that looked like my Jack and my girl Cookie who passed a little over a year ago. It was a nice reminder to take a deep breath and move forward and enjoy each breath I take. 😊

Fun fact🐾❤️

Animals have the ability to sense and feel energy and human emotions. For centuries dogs and other animals have survived based on their instincts and reacting to certain situations, often negative situations, in assertive and powerful ways in order to protect themselves in the wild. Domesticated dogs have carried this trait with them and still heavily rely on this instinct to protect themselves and their owners.

Pretty neat huh!
I believe so.

Did you know dogs love to play in the rain and splash around in the puddles? Well, not every dog enjoys this but I know a lot really do.
I'm here rain or shine if we have their appointments scheduled.

Friendly reminder ☺️
Please notify me if you can't make your appointment due to the weather and we can always reschedule.

I hope everyone has the chance to play in the rain this week or enjoy listening to the rain with your friend snuggled up inside. Whichever you prefer.

Love always

Hello everyone I wanted to share that I groom both dogs and cats and look at how adorable these 2 are.

🐾 Fun Fact 🐾

Dogs were estimated to be domesticated around 40,000 years ago used for helping humans hunt.
Cats on the other hand are believed to have been domesticated only up to 12,000 years ago as agriculture evolved as they were effective for pest control!

🐾💕 Super neat to think about. 💕🐾

This sweet wooly fur baby is called an English Angora Rabbit.

🐇Fun Fact🐇

The Angora Rabbit originated from Ankara, Turkey and they are one of thee oldest types of wooly rabbits. They were known as the "Angora Wooler" when brought to the United States.
Angoras require regular grooming and this little fella here was happy to be combed and clipped. Their wool is actually gathered and used. So cute❤️
Now you should never bathe any sort of rabbit due to high stress and easily getting hypothermia.
There are 11 distinct breeds of Angora rabbit and I was given the chance to groom this beautiful happy boy who loves his cabbage🐰.

🍁Can't wait see him again.🍁

I'm here to tell you something about this fuzzy pup we all know and love called the Australian Shepherd.

🐾Fun Fact🐾

Did you know that the type of coat the Australian Shepherd has is called a "double coat".
A "double coat" means that this breed has 2 layers of hair called the undercoat and the top coat.
The undercoat is made up of short wooly hairs and the top coat is made up of long hairs called guard hairs.
Double coats protect Australian Shepherds from the very cold winters to the extremely hot summers.🐾❤ so neat!
Come spring time (right now actually😉) they start to shed their winter coat....
If you are not a fan of hair all over you can schedule your pup an appointment with your local groomer to help with the shedding process and make your baby feel amazing between regular brushing at home🐾❤

This fella was very happy with the blowout of his coat and says everyone with an Aussie should be sure to have theirs experience spa days regularly to keep them feeling good to!

🐾They really are a fun breed to groom and work with. I love every single Australian Shepherd that walks through my door 🐾

Hey everyone! I am hoping February went by nicely and was full of fun adventures and snuggles with your families and friends 😊❤

🐾🐾 something I'd love to share🐾🐾

Research has been done and can you believe that from what they have gathered they say that dogs do not smile? They call it "Anthromorphic Fallacy". That's when we attribute our human emotions and characteristics to animals and aspects of nature.

Now in my experience with all different kinds of animals I can say you really read emotions through their eyes yet I have been able to see fully intended smiles on their faces. Some dogs even give me their paw like a high five with their happy smile.

I'm not saying every single animal is smiling if it seems to be that way yet if you pay close enough attention to your own baby you may notice when instead of panting they are in fact happy and smiling like we as humans do especially feeling clean after a nice bath 🐾❤

I do not believe what most researchers say and that's my opinion.... this baby was so happy today after his bath can't you see his smile😊🐾♥️

I'll let you guys be the judge

After meeting this fine young man I started to wonder where did this little, cute, and long Dachshund come from and how did you get your name?

🐾🐾Fun Fact🐾🐾

In the late 17th century the Dachshund started to make their appearance in France and Germany hunting badgers.... yes... I said it. Badgers! Now we all know badgers to be strong and tough and burrowed into their homes as if they could never be brought out. Well "Dach" means badger and "hund" means dog... so the Dachshund was created to have a long and well developed ribcage so that their was enough room for the heart and lungs to help their endurance battling underground for long periods of time. The underside of the ribcage known as the "keel" needed to extend beyond the elbow so that it would help protect their organs from sharp sticks and roots sticking out of the ground. The Dachshunds underjaw has incredibly long teeth also to give a good bite to their opponents. It's incredible such a breed can fight in such a small tunnel and against badgers!
That takes courage and anyone who knows a Dachshund knows that that is what they have! I love seeing all Dachshunds enter my salon and hoping to continue meeting each 3 types. The longhaired, smooth, and wire coated ❤🐾

I absolutely love music and just as much as I love music, I love dogs❤🐾🎶

The Beatles have been a favorite of mine ever since I can remember and I had the chance to see Paul McCartney play and sing a couple years ago with a great friend.

🐾🎶Fun fact🐾🎶

Did you know the song "Martha My Dear" was not about a girlfriend of his but actually about his Old English Sheepdog! A photo of Paul and Martha below ❤🐾

I'm here to talk about the dewclaw. Many animals have dewclaws but not all...

🐾 Your pet may even have dewclaws. 🐾

The dewclaw is what they call a digit, a vestigial in some animals like our beloved dogs and cats but also on other mammals, birds, and reptiles. It grows higher on the leg than the rest of the foot not really ever making contact with the ground. So basically the dewclaw is your pets thumb and big toe. Neat huh?

🐾🍁If you have ever noticed some pups like the Great Pyrenees have extra dewclaws in their back feet. They say it's because it helps them for stability and to be able to grip when they are working to herd and protect their family.🐾🍁

If you pay attention to some pups playing with their balls you can see they use their dewclaws to help grip the ball while playing with it. Super cute I'd say.

If your pet has dewclaws they also need to be regularly trimmed or filed so that it doesn't cause any health concern for your pet. I can trim or file your pets nails and dewclaws if they have them here at my salon 🐾❤

Have a wonderful night everyone
