Sheba 2022- My names Crixus & I am a red Doberman Pinscher!

How to pronounce my name: "Cricks Us". I was rescued February 2, 2013 when I was 15months. My sister Naevia (Nay-Via) is also a red Doberman Pinscher. Born on February 8, 2013. She was rescued on October 27, 2014. She was heart worm positive and underwent treatments. As of July 2015 she's heart worm free. She was bred on her first heat therefore is smaller than the breed.

When you sprint into Maddex’s room, leap onto his bed, and they start asking what you were eating… so you flash your ‘I’m totally innocent’ smile like. 🫣😁

This is how Dobermans smile... If you don't know it it can come across differently unless you're told.

This is our local Humane society. They helped with Tiberius' heartworm treatment when he came to us. ❤️‍🩹

It's been extremely hot the last few days with the heat advisory. Can't imagine!

🚨 Emergency HVAC Replacement 🚨

The A/C in our dog building completely failed right in the middle of a dangerous heat wave. 🥵 Of course, we had no choice but to act fast to protect the pets in our care.

Thanks to our emergency reserve fund, we’re replacing the units TODAY, but the unexpected cost of $10,800 has nearly wiped out our safety net for future emergencies.

💛 The good news? Our pets are safe and sound. Thanks to our amazing friends at the Forsyth County Pet Adoption & Resource Center, our dogs are staying cool and comfortable while the new unit is installed today.

But we need your help to recover. These unexpected emergencies take a huge toll, and we can’t do this alone. If you’re able to give, please donate today. Every dollar makes a difference in keeping our pets safe and well cared for.

I noticed Naevia was panting while I was trimming the other dogs’ nails. When it was finally her turn, I realized she had a deep gash on her side likely from running around and catching herself on something in the house. I rushed to finish Sheba’s nails and then got Naevia to the emergency vet.

We had to wait a while since others were ahead of us, and didn’t get out until 1:30 AM after staples and stitches. And to top it off, I still had to get up for my foot surgery that same morning… the one I’ve been waiting 7 months for.

Naevia and I are now recovering together. She’s been such a trooper, and we’re both taking it slow and healing side by side. Just haven't had time to update till now since we're a week out now.

It's lacrosse season so apologies we are busy these days running the league. Sheba, Tiberius, and Naevia are all good!

You'll see more photos of Sheba because she demands more attention than any doberman I've owned. Tiberius I had to make sure was okay a week or two ago when the bad storms were rolling in. He seems to do well these days, but still put the snood over his ears to help.

Snow day here in GA.

Naevia and Crixus used to love playing in the snow. Tiberius and Sheba are no different and enjoying playing in it.

Naevia got to go for a walk without the others and setup a heater by her crate while she ate her new bone after.

Dogs in Muzzles: Breaking the Stigma

Muzzles don’t mean a dog is “bad” or “dangerous.” They’re a tool that helps dogs and their owners navigate challenging situations safely.

Take Tiberius, for example. He wears a muzzle because he’s scared of men, stemming from a heartbreaking past where he endured severe abuse, including having hot oil used on him. While we were out today, a few comments were made about his muzzle. But as time passed, those same people noticed how calm and well-behaved Tiberius was—better behaved than all of the dogs passing by without muzzles. By the end, they admired him and even realized their own dogs could use some work.

Muzzles are a sign of responsible ownership and compassion, helping dogs like Tiberius heal and thrive. Let’s break the stigma and appreciate every dog’s unique journey. 🐾
