Here's an important reminder for you: Your home, garage, or garden may contain TOXIC substances that could be harmful to your furry friends.
Each year, the ASPCA Animal Poison Control Center receives thousands of calls from pet owners about their pets' potential toxin exposure.
Be cautious and take steps to protect your pets from accidental exposure to harmful substances!
Want to make sure your pet is getting the right amount of food? It's not always easy to know how much to give them.
The best way to determine their daily food intake is to calculate their caloric needs using a dog or cat calorie calculator.
Divide that amount into two or three meals and limit their treat consumption to no more than 10% of their daily calorie intake. And remember, measuring their food with a cup isn't always accurate.
Want help figuring out your pet's daily calorie needs? Call to talk to your veterinarian.
Your pet is not just a beloved companion, but a part of your family. It's important to protect them from diseases like rabies. This deadly disease has no cure and can be transmitted to humans through a bite or saliva contact.
Signs in humans include fever, headache, and difficulty swallowing. Prevent the spread of rabies by vaccinating your pet.
📞Call to consult with a Veterinarian and find out how to protect your pet and your family!
Want to prevent expensive dental surgeries for your furry friend?
Start by taking care of their oral health! Brush their teeth every day with special toothpaste and consider feeding them dental diet food.
Be sure to only use products approved by the Veterinary Oral Health Council to prevent tooth fractures.
Paws up for great experiences! 🐾 If your pet had a fantastic time with us, we'd be thrilled to hear about it in a review!
Attention pet owners: grapevines can be harmful to your dogs!
These vines are known to cause kidney failure in dogs if ingested. But there's a simple solution to keep your yard looking beautiful while protecting your furry friend.
Try trimming off the budding grapes before they become fruit, preserving the aesthetic value of the vines while keeping your dog safe.
Stay vigilant and keep your pets safe by being aware of potential hazards and taking preventive measures.
Building a strong foundation for your pet's health starts with training, exercise, and play! These activities help your puppy or kitten burn energy, learn commands, and understand acceptable behavior.
Keeping your young pet mentally and physically engaged also strengthens the human-animal bond and helps prevent problem behaviors that may lead to relinquishing them to animal shelters.
Start your pet off on the right foot by incorporating plenty of training, exercise, and play into their daily routine. Need help? Call to talk to your veterinarian.

If your pet displays any of these symptoms, or if you're concerned about their risk of infection, call us at Hamilton Plaza at to schedule a consultation with one of our experienced Veterinarians. We're here to help keep your pet healthy and happy!

I am so thankful for Dr.Zak! My fur baby had an allergic reaction to something and broke out in hives. Dr. Zak squeezed her in the same day and gave her medicine, treats and belly rubs.

Alright so I did rate with stars a few days ago, but I wanna update with my experience and words!
I throughly enjoy this vet, they are super easy to work with. The consistency in kindness and information I get from everyone here is amazing. Taking an animal to the vet is always stressful for me, but they make it so much easier for my animals and myself.
My dog, Elsa had a lump that needed ti be removed, and thankfully it's gone now. Her and I are cuddling as I type this, and she is healing well. Thank you for taking amazing care of my pupper! Photos of her sleeping and her in the cone are included.
I really recommend this vet!

We have been clients for 8 years. Dr. Zak and Dr. Johnson are both very caring and loving with our pets. When our dog passed away, Dr. Zak as well as several staff members cried with us as we said goodbye to our precious pup. I will always be grateful for such compassion!

Vet Approved Boarding: A Safer Haven for Your Pet.
Today I would like to share a personal story on why I, a seasoned Vet, recommend boarding at a vet facility over a doggy daycare/boarding facility. I would like to start with that I am immensely thankful for the exceptional care provided by the veterinary team and kennel assistant at the animal hospital where my beloved Labrador retriever, Nicholas, was boarding during the holidays. My deepest gratitude extends to my former boss and mentor, as well as the kennel assistant, for their prompt and life-saving actions that spared Nicholas from a severe and potentially fatal condition.
Nicholas was under the watchful eyes of a vet hospital and boarding facility when, on Christmas Eve 2002, the kennel assistant perceptively observed unusual behavior from Nicholas – restlessness, panting, drooling, and a swollen abdomen. Recognizing the signs of a severe situation, the kennel assistant swiftly notified the veterinarian. Their quick response was crucial in identifying gastric dilatation-volvulus (GDV), commonly known as bloat, a condition where the stomach twists and accumulates gas, jeopardizing the blood supply to vital organs.
Nicholas had eaten part of his bedding. Without timely intervention, GDV can prove fatal. Rushed to the surgery room, Nicholas underwent an emergency procedure to decompress and reposition his stomach. Throughout the night, the veterinary team vigilantly monitored Nicholas, administering fluids, painkillers, and antibiotics. Their regular updates provided solace during a time of immense concern when I was far away and couldn’t be right there with him.
The following morning brought relief as I learned that Nicholas had successfully weathered the surgery and was in stable condition. Given his predisposition to GDV due to his breed, coupled with the ingestion of foam from his chewed-up dog bed, the situation was highly risky. Once I was finally able to see Nicholas, I saw a tail-wagging, happy dog – a stark contrast to the critical state he had been in before. In gratitude for their exceptional care, I expressed my thanks to my former boss and the kennel assistant with generous gifts.
Their swift and adept actions not only saved Nicholas' life but allowed him to enjoy another decade without GDV incidents. The veterinary team's proficiency and compassion transformed them into genuine heroes in my eyes. Reflecting on this experience, I wholeheartedly recommend boarding a pet at an animal hospital or vet clinic facility. Beyond their professional expertise, the team showcased unparalleled compassion and dedication, ensuring the well-being of my furry companion. I also own an Animal Hospital and boarding facility in Dacula, Georgia called Hamilton Plaza Animal Hospital. At my location we are going on 14 years without any GDV instances due to the exceptional training and diligence my staff provides while caring for your pets compared to other non-vet boarding facilities. This heartfelt gratitude towards the staff is not only for the exceptional veterinary care but for the immeasurable gift of extending Nicholas' life. Thank you to them for giving me the best Christmas gift ever: My Nicholas!
