Before you complain about someone’s prices, you should buy a cow.

Before you tell someone their milk, meat, soap, cheese, produce, etc. is over-priced, you should buy land.

Buy land. Pay for infrastructure. Buy a cow. Train the cow. Pay to Feed the cow. Care for the cow. Learn to milk the cow. Actually milk the cow. Cry over milk the cow kicked and spilled everywhere. Cry over your sick cow while you sit up all night with the vet. Stay up all night with your cow.

Before you complain about someone’s prices, show up. Show up every day. Even when it’s 106*. Even when there’s a hurricane. Even when it’s hailing. Even when it’s freezing and your hands don’t work right. Even when you only got one hour of scattered sleep the night before.

This post is not to complain, I wouldn’t trade this life for anything. But it’s important that everyday people understand what they are paying for. Small farms like ours don’t get government subsidies. We pay for everything out of pocket. Before you make a comment about prices think this through. I genuinely believe people make these comments out of ignorance, not to be ugly or rude.

Farmers pay for their products with their lives. Time, blood, energy, emotion, no days off. Most of us don’t break even, much less make a profit. We do this because we believe there is a better way.

When you buy local, you pay for more than the soap or milk or produce in your hands.

Before you complain. Buy a cow. Or goats. or grow a large garden.

Just be mindful.

Yesterday (9/02/10) we welcomed Squirtle Turbo The Tortoise into our family. Check out this cutie!!🥰
And as for the name…it was a tie in the family. 2 of us wanted Squirtle, 2 of us wanted Turbo. So we made it work. And yes as he grows he will “evolve” just as Squirtle the Pokémon does and his name will evolve with him but the rest of his name will stay the same.

Talk about team work. We have had 3 Black J*p hens sitting. So we gave them some eggs from our D’uccle hen. They have all been taking turns and sitting together keeping the eggs warm. They are hatching today! We have 4 so far. They are happy with 2 of the mama hens. The 3rd hen is still sitting on the last egg. 🐣🐣🐣🐣🥚

Just want to throw out alittle information on eggs. It’s all marketing. Many don’t realize their eggs come from hens who have little space of their own their whole lives even when buying “cage free”

For those of you who have asked. All but 1 egg hatched this period. Check these lol fuzz balls out!

We ended up.with 6 out of 7 eggs hatching. sometimes they just dont make it.

Hatch day for our Black Langshans! We had some complications with the Incubator in this hatch. So only one so far has hatched and the others don’t seem like they’re going to… so we got our one a little friend. A Praire bluebell egger. Can’t wait for her eggs! Hope more Langshans hatch tonight-tomorrow. 🤞

Well the weather isn’t the best ⛈ but the kids did great in showmanship! Both got 2nd. Judge told Raleigh he had a well groomed goat, paid attention, changed sides with ease, and knew the harder parts of the goat compared to the other kids. Kylie did great as well. She stood straight, held her goats head high, switched sides when needed and knew her parts! So proud!

Raleigh won Showmanhip Champion yesterday for the juniors at March Mini Madness! So proud of him. He has been working with a Fiona and learning from past shows on what he needed to work on. And it paid off!
