Cider

Cider was my first ’feral’ cat foster. She was brought into the shelter from a hoarder house where domestic and feral cats were mixed. Despite her unsocialized behaviors, Cider wasn’t eligible to be released because she was found inside the home and therefore was placed for adoption. Unfortunately upon intake she bit 2 people (myself included) and due to her behavior she was moved to a back housing area where she sat for months. Week after week of seeing her and having no options for placement, I requested to foster her for a weekend to see if being out of the shelter would make a difference. Two months passed in foster care with me before she finally got comfortable with me being near her. This video is the exact moment when she allowed me to pet her for the first time. At this point I knew she was a house cat and would love to have a home of her own. I went back to work and raved about her progress and shortly after this she found a home with a family that had a barn where she could chase all the rodents that she wanted.

Courage

Courage is the very first dog I worked with in a shelter setting that was shut down and deemed aggressive. He was found as a stray and had no interest in interacting with the kennel technicians that were meant to care for him daily. Courage was moved to a private housing area due to being unhandleable, at this point I was able to spend time with him at his own pace until he felt comfortable opening up and being a dog again. This video captures the first moment where he began to show comfort in being near others and allowed me to pet him for the first time. Shortly after this Courage was adopted and often frequented the dog park where he played with all types of dogs.

Hi! My name is Gillian Flebbe, I am the owner of Fear Free ABC (Animal Behavior Consultant) based out of Dallas-Fort Worth, Texas. I have been working with dogs and cats with behavioral concerns for many years. The past 4 years I have worked with many animals in a shelter environment addressing severe behavioral issues to assist in increasing their adoptability. I’ve had such great success with it that I have decided to branch out and create a business that pet owners can utilize for their personal pets that may have some behaviors that they want corrected. While I specialize in aggression, I offer many services such as Puppy Socialization/Basic Manners, Cat Socialization, New Pet Intergration, ‘Good Dog’ Training, and many others utilizing positive reinforcement training methods! This business was created in mind for owners that take a chance on pets that are fearful, aggressive, shut down, undersocialized, or have sudden changes in behavior. It is a mission that is close to my heart and one that I am always looking to grow and gain new experiences with.
