Thankful for the horses that have grown with me and continue to do so. Thankful for the horses that leave me no choice but to get better. Thankful for the challenging ones. Saddled miss Tilly today for the first time in a month or more, but she sure didn’t act like it like it’s been that long. She stood perfectly for me to saddle her up and went to work like she’s an old broke horse. Even stood for me to jump up and down in the stirrups a bit. Pretty dang good for only a yearling.

Still haven’t decided what color she is but I don’t think she quite has either 🙈

Spa day for both the girls today!

Tilly girl made the move out to a friends house for the winter and she settled in great! She’s going to get lots of trail exposure here! Yesterday she got to be ponied on some trails and across the creek and today we took a nice long walk to the top of the trails! Water is not an issue for this girl and neither is being ponied, or going out on the trail without any other horses in sight!
She is still available!

For your consideration
Tilly is a yearling grade quarter horse filly, currently standing about 14.3 at the shoulder. She is looking for her new home as I can only keep one horse at this point in time.

She’s got a really great mind on her and is super athletic. She grew up on a ranch in central Oregon and has had to learn to cover some rough terrain, so she could make a killer ranch or trail horse! Or she could go really any direction you wish, she’s got lots of potential. She’s a super willing filly and will do pretty much anything you ask! She has also given us reason to believe she is going to be very cowy, the girls’ got some moves!
So far Tilly knows all the basics such as:
- Ties
- Loads
- Picks up all 4 feet
- Stands to be bathed
- Stands to be saddled and bridled
- Gives to bit pressure
- Packs a saddle around (no buck)
- Goes over obstacles
- Ponies in and out of the arena
- Lunges and round pens
- Dog broke
- Yields hind end, forequarters, and side passes

She has a good enough foundation on her that you could turn her out until she’s ready to be started or continue building on what she already knows!

My favorite red head got to spend the summer out on pasture, we enjoyed a few outings and some trail rides, but now that summer is over it’s time to get her back to work! Girl sure beefed up over the summer and is looking better than ever! 🤩

More pictures of Denali in the wild, but he was actually with a band in these pictures! There is a bay roan in this band that talked a bunch with Denali when we were in the warmup arena at the competition, it was fun to watch them interact and find out that they were actually in the same band!

“Chantilly” aka Tilly
Grade yearling QH filly
She currently stands about 14.3 at the shoulder. She’s as sweet as can be and is going to make someone an awesome horse, could go really any direction! She’s got an awesome mind on her, super athletic, cowey, quick on her feet, super smart, and has a big stop on her. If I could keep more than one horse she would definitely be a keeper. She does all the things a good yearling should do as well as packs a saddle around with zero silly business. Super easy to catch and will meet you at the gate. Not much fazes this sweet filly either. She grew up on the range in central Oregon, super tough country, so she should naturally know how to handle some of the toughest terrain and be really sure footed.

2023 summer Teens and Oregon Mustang Challenge recap:
I’m soo proud of Denali and how he handled himself this weekend. He was unfazed by the crazy show environment and nice and relaxed the whole weekend. Trail and body conditioning didn’t go as well as I had hoped but we still managed to place in Body Conditioning. Showmanship was our last class and I was extremely proud of how well Denali did. We really drilled the showmanship maneuvers in our time together and it paid off because we placed 2nd! Overall we ended up placing 3rd out of about 35 other competitors and got to bring home some awesome prizes! Denali really showed up for me this weekend and tried his very hardest. He may have been a tough cookie to start out, but he made a total 180 turn and has big things ahead of him!

Denali will be headed to Tennessee at the end of the week to go to his new home! Thinking of him being that far away is tough but I know he will be in great hands!

A huge thank you to everyone that is a part of my support team for making this all possible! You guys mean the world to me!

Pretty happy with how this class went this morning, Denali did everything exactly how I asked him!

Handling and conditioning:
Our second class was handling and conditioning and it definitely didn’t go as well as I had hoped. Especially considering Denali has never hesitated before jumping into a trailer or questioned backing out before today. He also has been so solid with ground tying but decided to forget what that was and tried to walk off before I picked up his other back foot 🤦‍♀️🤷‍♀️ But on the upside he did load, he picked up all four feet, and let a stranger catch him. So I guess I can’t be too picky.
This morning we have our last class which will be showmanship starting at 9am! Come by Denalis stall and meet him! I will try to hang out around there to answer any questions and so everyone can meet Mr. Social!
If I can get ahold of a video from our trail class I will post it!

Finally got the scores from our show last weekend! Denali placed 5th in our basic trail class and was just .5 away from placing in our Greenie In-hand trail class! Sooo proud of Mr. Denali!

Mustang Gelding Available for Adoption!
Denali is a 3 year old South Steens mustang gelding. I have had the pleasure of training Denali for the past 120ish days and he has proved to be a very sweet guy that try’s super hard to understand what you are asking of him. He has come a very long ways in our time together, the things he does include:
- picks up all 4 feet
- Easy to deworm
- Ground ties like a pro
- Loads and unloads super easily
- Stands tied
- Stands for the farrier
- Stands to be saddled
- Easy to bridle
- Gives to the bit
- Ground drives
- Lunges
- Round pens
- Clips
- Easy to catch (will meet you at the gate and greet you with a sweet nicker)
- Does all the showmanship maneuvers and does them well
- Goes over obstacles
- Dog broke
- Can be ponied
- Stands to be fly sprayed
- Stands to be bathed
- Been hauled off property lots, including to a trail show which he did awesome at
- Knows where his feet are when tackling tough terrain

Denali also has
- Super solid and hard feet
- Super big b***d and built to last

Our second class today also went really good! Denali wasn’t quite sure about the wobbly bridge but he tried super hard and got across it on our second try. He also backed into the ditch which was awesome because he had a super hard time doing it in the warm up arena. Overall I’m soo proud of this dude and how he handled himself today. He did EVERY single obstacle today and was so chill. I think he could end up making someone an awesome show horse and/or trail horse! Lots of waiting too and he stood very patiently. He tried so hard today and it really showed. Now onto the big show next weekend!
