Cupcake was the queen of Rockefeller Preserve today on our New Year’s drive! She is the best pony. I really need a four wheel carriage so we can bring a couple extra friends and a picnic basket 🧺

Cupcake wishes everyone a holly jolly season!! She is modeling her new jingle bells, and though we don’t have a one horse open sleigh, we DO have a one pony open cart that I hope to take out bells and all this winter.

More fun from our children’s vaulting program! We’re missing those balmy early-winter days — it’s blanket and extra hay weather now. We have a couple spaces left in our next children’s program on December 14, Trails and Obstacles! Signup through the link in our bio.

So much fun at our mounted archery program for children! We learned to halt and steer without reins (essential for freeing up hands to hold your bow and arrows) and then practiced shooting in a new course.

Autumn is sneaking in, and Russet and I are making the most of these absolutely perfect riding days. It’s dried out enough that there are stretches of formerly boggy trail that make nice long canters and gallops now.

We are actually offering a 2 day per week lease with Russet, so if you’re pining for a between-the-ears view like this, please reach out!

Explore a hundred miles of interconnected bridle trails in Northern Westchester with Russet, the safe and reliable bedrock of our eclectic program. She gives quiet w/t lessons to our smallest riders, builds the confidence of our adult beginners, and is the good-natured star of our equestrian vaulting and mounted archery programs. For more experienced riders, she’s simply the most fun – the horse you can trust to be sensible in any situation, but who will be just as excited as you to go for a nice gallop! She is the best partner on hunter paces, and provides the steadying influence for other horses in new or exciting environments.

Russet is a fully trained western horse with lots of “buttons” and a true one-handed neck rein, but also goes beautifully in English tack.

Come meet her today and take advantage of this gorgeous riding weather!

Lease details

Russet is available for a partial lease of 2 rides per week, with a 6-12 month commitment preferred. One or two lessons are required up front to ensure a great fit, with the lesson fees applied towards the lease. Western or English lessons will always be available, but are not required for experienced riders. You’ll have the option to come spend non-riding time grooming and bonding as well!

Note: Leases are available to clients who are able to independently catch, groom, tack, and ride their own horse. If that’s not you, but you’re interested, no problem – come take lessons with us until you reach the level of proficiency needed to lease your own!

A little more about us

Lune Hollow Farm is a boutique equestrian stable located in beautiful Bedford, NY — just an hour from NYC’s Grand Central Station by train. We love all traditions of good horsemanship, with instruction offered in Western, English (hunter/jumper and classical dressage), as well as carriage driving. Our facility has a small barn with paddocks designed for natural 24/7 turnout whenever possible, an outdoor arena with top quality, dust-free footing, and direct access to the Bedford Riding Lanes, a trail system consisting of nearly a hundred miles of interconnected bridle trails.
